On Wednesday night I booked a room there for our November stay. Now I'm reading all kinds of bad things about it in the "What resorts would you not return to and why? thread. Please someone give me something to look forward to. Or some kind of tips. Today I e-mailed and asked to be put in building 25 or 26. Is that good? I hear thats close to the foodcourt for the kids and their pop refills. After you check in, why would you need to go back to the lobby?

Yup, love CBR, been there twice in the past 15 months and would stay there again. You really need to read safetymoms thread on CBR, that will give you tons of info.
As for bldg location, what you asked for is perferred so that will cost you extra. You have to weigh whether or not you will really be going to OPR that much to warrant buying the mugs. I did this past trip since we did spend a lot of afternoons at the main pool and it was worth it.
There really isn't a "lobby" per say. It's a building, Custom House, and really you won't have a reason to go there after you check in.
There are fans of all the resorts, what one might like another dislikes. If you love the feel of the islands and laying in a hammock on the beach at night is your cup of tea...you will enjoy CBR. If you like action the moment you open your door(outside entry)..you won't.

Remember...IF you don't like CBR once you get there you can always transfer to another resort (will pay rack) or just finish out your vaca and not stay there again

I love CBR! In fact we are HOPEFULLY headed there next weekend, weather permitting of course. It is a wonderful resort and among my favorites.

We loved in also. I did not have one complaint.

We loved CBR when we stayed there almost 3 years ago! The rooms are probably the best of the moderates. Rooms are larger than other mods, have a full double sink vanity with a storage shelf, and they have a privacy curtain between the bathroom/sink area and bedroom.

The grounds were lovely and we didn't feel like there was too much walking. Even if you don't want to pay extra for a preferred location, there are buildings in Jamaica and Aruba that are reasonably close to OPR.

If you want to stay at CBR, don't a few negative posts discourage you. I've read negative comments about every Disney resort.

Have a great vacation!

There are loads of people that love CBR. I suggest you read this thread. People are more likely to post when they don't like their resort than when they do like it.

Love CBR! Stayed there 3 times and had a great time every visit. The Mousekeeping staff there is just unbelieveable and very friendly. Everything was always clean and we love the theming. We have become spoiled by the Poly but plan on returning to CBR at some point! Relax -- you will love it!

CBR is a great resort! We have stayed there at least ten times and never a bad trip. If they could just move it within walking distance to Epcot, it would be the perfect resort!

I really don't like that kind of thread because it brings out the negative, one family can stay at a resort and have a MAGICAL Stay, then another family has a terrible time at the same resort...I have stayed in many resorts at WDW and have enjoyed evey trip...You should be fine at CBR.

We LOVED CBR when we stayed there! I have some pictures of the resort that I took when I was there in 2001 and 2002. The link to my web site is below, in my signature. Check it out :sunny:

We stayed @ CBR Sept 2003..DH, DD8,DS4 and myself. We loved it! Room was more spacious than we thought. Housekeeping was great. Were trying AKL next month due to the rate, however, we would have stayed again @ CBR. Try it out!

DH and I were there in July of 2003 and we both loved it. DH was especially impressed. We liked the fact that it was spread out (although we were in Trinidad North which is very close to both the big pool and food court). I thought it made our room seem very quiet and private. In fact - CBR was quieter than some of the deluxes I have stayed at. I loved the theming and decor. We were also impressed with Shutters and the pool bar. We had a great time there!

We stayed there in 1999 before rehab and we enjoyed it very much. Mousekeeping was great. Every this was very clean. If we stayed at a moderate, I would consider staying there again.

We stayed there in 2002 over Christmas. We had two rooms, one for us and one for the three teen boys, with a roll away for one kid. It was quite nice having our own room. We were in bldg 26, I believe and it was as close as we could possibly get. Still a bit of a hike.

The rooms were fine and just refurbished at that time. The grounds are really very nice and very relaxing. I liked it but we are usually at WL or another deluxe. Without kids, DH and I are staying at WL and YC for 5 days this Dec.

We stayed in Jamaica in May 2003 and thought it was great! It was about a 5 minute walk to Old Port Royale, nothing that was terribly inconvenient. Mousekeeping was also great too! :) My DBF said he wasn't too fond of it because there were no indoor cooridoors but that didn't really bother me.

The CBR is a great resort. The grounds are beautiful. The food court has a nice selection. The only village really away from the main pool and food court is Trinidad South. Even that was only a 10 to 15 minutes walk. We've stayed there a number of times and it's always been nice. There are aways complaints about how large the CBR is, but you're at disney world and you're going to be walking no matter where you are.

Stayed there Easter for the second time and would stay ther again in a second.
Enjoyed immensely. One suggestion would be to request room by OPR (preferred category) for convenience, especially with kids. Consodering WL for next trip but just because we want to try something different. With expense not a concern the Poly might also be the answer. Good Luck,

kev
