It had a 16 year old boy who is in a gang and claims that he has committed all kinds of crimes for his "gang brothers" including murdering a few people including an 8th grader. He also claims to have been a part of other gruesome crimes/murders which I won't post here.

All during the show the parents and stepmother are crying, sitting in disbelief at what the kid is saying.

All during the show *I* was wondering when the cops were going to come onstage and arrest the kid! :confused3

I was wondering how in the world Dr Phil was going to end his episode; surely he wasn't going to extend a "gift" of sending the kid to a rehab/resort like he always does with teens/young adults who are drug addicts, alcoholics, etc.

But yep... he did! What happened to him being a mandated reporter that he's always talking about? I realize that mandated reporters have to report child abuse/neglect/etc, but this kid just confessed on your stage that he murdered a child.

I was hoping that they'd give the guy a lie detector test because all through the episode I was hoping that he'd confess to it all being a lie, just to appear to be cool. Or is the kid a psychological liar???

The entire show angered me.

Oh, at least he did bring out 2 adult former gang members who gave him the truth and the big picture about how the gang members are all "brotherly" until you get caught and then you no longer exist to them. And let's not forget the movie clip that was shown based on the true life story of one of those former gang members. I was, seriously??? This kid is admitting to committing all kinds of horrific crimes, but let's not forget the movie commercial.

P.S. I just read on a tv review site that at the end of the episode, it was said that the show sent the video of the show to the authorities where he lives and that they investigated, and they didn't find anything to base his claims on. But still... who sits there and continues to listen to what this kid was spewing?!?!?! His poor parents were a wreck listening to him to admit to all of that.

I swear, Dr Phil is bordering on Jerry Springer territory. :furious:

I didn't see the show. To me, above is the only relevant info. They boy can CLAIM anything. He could say he's responsible for a big bank heist that was in the news. That doesn't mean it's true. He sounds like a big braggart, thinking he's a tough gang member going on Dr, Phil to brag to the world, with nothing real to substantiate what he says.

According to what you wrote, the Dr. Phil show DID send the tapes to the authority after the whole "confession" was on tape. Until it could be proven true, this kid was simply a possible liar with a huge imagination - and that part was eventually found out to be true.

I think the only times you take a kid (in trouble like this,) at their word, is if they say they are currently carrying a weapon and about to use it, or that they are going to shoot someone at school, or they are thinking of killing themselves.

As for Dr Phil being full of himself and more like Jerry Springer, yeah, that I agree with too. :headache: He used to have some integrity before he was given his own show. :sad2:

I totally agree with what you said, but referencing the bolded part, the thing is, they didn't know that the kid might be lying until after the show was taped. So theoretically, the kid could have been telling the truth, and the show proceeded as it did. That's why I thought that someone, at some point, was going to come onstage during the show, to either confirm that the kid was not a murderer, OR come on to take him in for questioning.

Apparently the parents and stepmom thought the kid was telling the truth; they knew he was involved with a street gang and minor crimes and assaults but he never mentioned murdering anyone until the show.

It just felt wrong to me, whether the kid turned out to be lying about the worst of it (actually murdering someone himself) or not, I just thought the whole thing was not something that should be talk show fodder.

If this boy is in a gang and if he did everything he said, there may very well be no way to prove it.

The police question the boy, he suddenly says he was lying. No confession and no chance of the boy getting the help he needs because he walks away.

His "brothers" in the gang aren't going to tell the truth because 1. they aren't going to admit to the crimes they were involved in and 2. they just don't do that.

If there are witnesses out there, many won't come forward because they are afraid of the gang.

Not much the show or the law can do. Hopefully whatever help Dr. Phil gets for the boy will work.

I don't watch Dr. Phil so can't say whether he is getting like Jerry Springer or not.

Please stop watching garbage television.

Yep, Dr Phil is off my DVR list. And I know that I mentioned Jerry Springer, but only as a point of reference. Definitely time to put the DVR on a diet of healthier options.

The trouble is that to keep viewers he needs to be more "shocking". Just look at recent shows the Morgan Ingram show where the parents accused their neighbour's daughter and ex boyfriend of murdering Morgan. According to Morgan's parents a group of people broke into their house and killed their daughter while they where sleeping in their bedroom. Now one or two people maybe but they are claiming at least 6!!!!!!! The mother's blog has accused the police and neighbourhood of covering up the stalking yet according to the blog she watched and took note of any car number plate she didn't reconise. Then there was the show on Jacob Limberios after the investigation showed his gun had a faulty safety DeWine said the gun had a faulty safety mechanism, meaning the gun could fire without its trigger being pulled. Lastly the Sheena Morris case where despite FDLA report calling this a suicide they are still accussing her ex boyfriend (he had an alibi) of killing her. He has descended to Jerry Springer level next you will be getting the Maury show type programs where you get some girl testing 10+ men to find their child's father.

I think Dr Phil has been in Jerry territory for a while. I liked him in Oprah and I liked when his show first started but I just started disliking him and his little sayings.

I don't watch Dr Phil. I think he's a jerk. I stopped liking Oprah about 7 or 8 years ago. I did like her a lot at one time, but she is too full of self-importance imo.

As for the kid on the show, I can't comment on him bc I didn't see it but since you brought up Jerry Springer, I did know a couple of girls who made up a whole fake story back in the 90s to get on his show. The producers didn't care one bit whether the story was true or not, as long as it was juicy.

That show mad me so mad!

I also wanted Phil to tell the kid to shut up and allow the cops to drag him away.
Such a waste of a human!

Did not see the show as I do not watch Dr. Phil anymore. However if I see Jerry on I MIGHT tune into it for a few minutes for a laugh.

I can honestly Jerry and Dr. Phil are not the same.

At least Jerry has a sense of humor and yes feigns compassion for the actors he has on his faux-shock-talk based tv show.

:lmao:

As far as the kid in the OP, I am calling shenanigans.:3dglasses

Don't forget his book life code he only mentions it several times each show!

:rotfl2:

I was thinking the same thing. Last week he had on a girl who was taking drugs while pregnant. This is a horrible thing and he kept saying that since she has admitted breaking the law he is going to report her to the police. I agree people should not be doing drugs while carrying a child but he is going telling her he is going to have her put in jail but not this guy who actually says he murdered someone.
I think the kid is lying about killing people. He is just fantasizing. He probably has robbed or burglarized people/houses. And he probably gets into fights.

Now he talks about his new doctor on demand app

I stopped watching after he always blamed parents for their kid's acting out. There are a few families I know where the parents and all but one of the kids are fine. Then there's the bad egg. Sometimes kids have personality disorders or they are just not right. It isn't always the parent's fault. He brags about how he has perfect children with perfect lives. I can imagine that makes his guests feel really good about themselves.

My husband called him Dr. Jerry Springer.

His show is an hour long commercial.

I am so tired of hearing the words, "my son Jay's publishing company". Just grates on me. Still watching though.

ROFL! I'd been away from Dr. Phil for many years, but got sucked back in DVR'ing because of a sweeps week "tease". (DVR has since been deleted.)

Yes, it's a formula. "Explosive" issues! Talk around it for 45 minutes, push the latest Dr. Phil/Jay's publishing co. book (or maybe Robin's)...nothing is resolved, "professionals" are offered, and Dr. Phil and Robin walk into the sunset...:cloud9:

IMHO, Dr. Phil sold out BIG TIME.
