We just got back from a few days out of town and were met with a dilemma. When you change a poopy diaper in a hotel room, what do you do with the diaper?

We just experienced this dilemma for the first time last week! We tied it up in a plastic bag and then threw the bag away in a garbage can in the vending area on our floor. Thankfully MIL always travels with multiple plastic bags "just in case"!

I always put it in a plastic bag or ziplock baggie and threw it in our trash in the bathroom. It didn't smell so bad since it was wrapped tight in the bag.

I generally shake the poop into the toilet and wrap the diaper upan put in the garbage, no extra bag needed. :thumbsup2 My daughter had solid poops, so the just roll of into the toilet. When I was nursing I had extra bags for disposal.

Wrap it up and throw it away in a garbage can outside the exit door. There is always a garbage can there. That way no one will smell it.

I think that might depend on the hotel.....I'm not sure I would want to be seen carrying that package in some nice hotels! I could see possibly disposing of it by going out the end door on a Fairfield Inn or Hampton Suites or similar and dropping it in an outdoor receptacle.

Sometimes when we travel and stay in a hotel such as Westin, Hilton and have smelly items to dispose of such as chinese take out (or soiled diapers), I've just called housekeeping and asked them how they would like to handle my smelly trash. Usually someone appears at the door to take it away.

Stick it in a ziplock baggie and put it in the trash. No stink since the bag is closed. Same thing they have us do at his dr's office or gymnastics.

Yep, that is what I do too!!!!

They sell those disposable smelly bags too....you could wrap it in one of those and then put it in a ziplock too.....??? I really don't remember what we used to do with smelly diapers when we'd be on trips and mine were younger.

we buy the scented diaper disposal bags from the dollar store. They are $1 for 75 bags, and they smell like baby powder. When you tie them up you can't smell the contents at all. Because they are so cheap, we have started using them for doggie clean up too (we have a small dog). The Doggie bags are $7 or $8! We also use them for wet bathing suits or dirty clothes.

On our most recent trip to a Hilton, there was a garbage chute, so we put them down the chute without a bag even. Didn't bother me at all to carry that "package" to the rubbish room.

At BWV, we mostly deposited them in an outside trash can that would get changed often.

I'm just wondering why you would throw a dirty diaper away in a public area near food? If I go to the vending machine for a snack, I wouldn't want to smell your baby's diaper???

And I am not a baby hater or basher!! I have 2 myself! But I wouldn't subject other guests to my kid's dirty diapers! We would just throw it away in the bathroom trashcan and tie the trash bag, if it was smelly. In every hotel I have been in there are usually more than one trash can (one in bathroom, one by desk), so you would still have a trash can to use.

If the diaper were a doozy (those one in a thousand kind), I MIGHT wrap it in the trash bag and carry the whole trash can to the outside dumpster (dump trash bag only - not can!). But that would be only if we couldn't stand the smell with it wrapped up in the trash bag in the bathroom.

I've traveled several times since DS was born and I second the idea of the scented disposal bags, I just tied them up and threw them in the trashcan in the bathroom and never smelled them at all.

I always brought ziploc bags to put them in then disposed of them in either the room or common area trash can. The ziploc "locked in" the smell so no matter where they were disposed of it wasn't a problem.

Ziplock bag them and toss them in trash can in the room. If necessary, double bag them. I wouldn't put them in the trash cans in public areas, that is just rude!
