Hi

We are headed to the World next month. We have two sons - 4 months and 4 years. I have never taken a small baby to the world. I need a recommendation of a good diaper bag or backpack to take. Out and about we use disposable diapers but I am breastfeeding. We bring snacks, camera, maps, change of clothes etc.

TIA

When I went with my DD4 and DS18months, I liked having two smaller bags. The two bags together fit in the bottom of our Maclaren stroller. One had snacks and such, the other had diapers and spare clothes. I like being able to just pull out the one I needed, instead of one GIANT bag when all I needed was a wipe. It also made it easier for DH to just grab the diapering bag when it was his turn to change a diaper.

Also, two separate bags made it easier to know what was where, rather than everything thrown in one giant bag. PLUS, nice having snacks separate from diaper stuff.

The bags themselves weren't much special. One was free from the hospital when I had one of my kids. Both had zippers, lots of pockets and were plastic-y, so water repellent.

I also had a small bagallini type bag that I wore across my shoulder (shoulder to hip) for stuff like my wallet and camera. You know, stuff I wouldn't leave with my stroller.

my family packed very light when going to the parks. For my DS, 2 months, we just packed 3 diapers, a small pack of wipes and an extra onesie which all fit in my DW's purse (average size, fits under a stroller just fine). For snacks and maps we just put that in our camera bag with our camera. Depending on the weather and when you go you'll know how much clothes to pack. You can always buy extra at a shop.

One thing you should do is become familiar with where all the baby centers are around the world. If you run out of supplies they can provide it (for a fee of course). Also, at the baby centers you can BF in peace and in A/C.

When my twins were about 6 months old, we bought a backpack from OneStepAhead and LOVE it. So much so that dh just bought a cheaper copy of it at our local Sam's Club specifically for this trip. Between the two bags, we can carry almost everything we need for the 3 kids in the park as well as the things we can use for ourselves.....

We used a LE backpack diaper bag for non-valuables (diapers, wipes, hand gel, snacks, sippy cups, etc.), but I had a small personal bag (Overland Equipment Placer) for valuables. I used it for money, camera, lip stuff, etc., and it is small enough to keep on your body (even while you eat, etc.) We used an umbrella type stroller (Peg Perego Pliko/P3),and just hung the backpack on the back. It was very easy to access and remove when we needed to fold the stroller to board the bus.

Well, I just checked the LE web site, and I don't see the LE backpack diaper bag! I would think that any backpack diaper bag would work (or even a regular back pack if it were easy to organize).

Here's the OE Placer, but I think that any small hip bag would work...

This OE Bayliss is cute, too!

I just throw what I need in the basket of the stroller or in my Maclaren bag thing.

We love taking a backback...even when we went pre-kids. This last trip I bought an Overland backpack and my husband said it was the best thing ever! We had the diapers, wipes, clorox wipes, camera and a few snacks. There was room to add extras (like when we bought things we didn't want to keep in the stroller). The Overland backpack has lots of compartments, too, which was nice.

DH picked up a Mickey Mouse backpack on sale at EBags a few weeks ago, and we're going to use that for the baby's diapers, wipes, change of clothes & bottles, along with hand sanitizer & some ponchos.

We also have a sling/shoulder pack that we'll put our KTTW & ID, camera & cell phones in.

You have to get the BABY SHERPA!!! It is AMAZING! I bought it just for the trip, I have 4 kids, a DD with allergies, etc

I packed it it,

Diapers, Wipes, sunscreen, diaper cream, First Aid kit, Tylenol, Advil, Video Camera, Camera, change of clothes, and sweatshirts for all the kids!! It has a cooler bag at the bottom with was great for juices, water, snacks etc.

It is the best bag I have ever owned! It was comfortable, and manly enough for DH to not care about wearing it.

It was a carry on piece, and was used and abused for 12 days and still looks brand new!
