I was just watching Xtra :rolleyes1 and they flashed on Eva Longorias finger. Her diamond ring must be 10 carats! :scared1:

I know they have the money, but does anyone find this crazy? I would be petrified to walk around with that thing on my finger.

i think it just depends on who's wearing it. some people like big rocks, while other's could care less.

It is too big if you need a sling to support your arm!

That would be way too big for me. I'm sure celebrities aren't worried about walking around with their extravagant gear because their stuff is insured out the wazoo and they have bodyguards.

I dont think Eva is walking around anywhere!;)

It is too big when most people suspect it is CZ. Probably more than two carats for most women is too big in my opinion. I love my 1/2 carat engagement ring because it is what my husband could afford fifteen years ago. He picked it out and proposed in such a sweet way that I would never consider "upgrading". I am not a bling girl anyway. I think too much is WAY too much.

I don't know. My dh just bought me a ring for our 10th anniversary. I always tease him that after 10 years I earned each carat. (I have never had an engagement ring or wedding band). The ring he got me is 2.5 carats and I am nervous to wear it even though it is fully insured. He tells me that he bought it for me to wear and not to sit in my jewelry box so I do wear it and am becoming more comfortable with it. Beside if he thought enough of me to get it then I should wear it. (PS I would love it just as much if it were smaller, heck I married him without having one at all;) )

I think for the rich and famous it is almost expected but on everyday people like me it does look a little off, a little overdone. But once again, it all comes down to, to each his own.

I think the perfect size is 1 carat, anything bigger than that looks gaudy to me. And a lot of time if they are really big, and it isn't a celeb than I start wondering if it is real.

DH also gave me a 1/2 carat ring 23 years ago. I could never upgrade it as it has way too much meaning for me.

However, for our 20th anniversary, he gave me a 3 stone ring with a 2 carat center and two 1/2 carats on the sides. At first I thought it was way too big, but now I am more comfortable with it and love it. It helps that the moms around here love bling, so it is a pretty normal size (best friend has an almost 4 carat - now that is one BIG rock!).

I was never a big jewelry person - only have a few pair of earrings. But, I must admit, I do now understand the lure of the sparkle of the bling :teeth:

But I wear the 3 stone on my right hand as I could never not wear my half carat wedding set as my wedding ring.

I think it depends on the person - I know of people with 4+ carats on their wedding finger - 2 carat marquise with 1 carat anniverday bands on either side, 3 carat princess in a 1.5 carat setting - both of these ladies are refined - you can see classiness when you look at them.

Most diamonds I see are around a carat or so - it's a respectable size (not "small" and not "huge").

Goofy, you're experiencing what is known as "shrinkage" - your ring seemed HUGE at the beginning and now it's just your ring - I got a 2 carat radiant set with a carat of rounds/baguettes for our 15th wedding anniversary 5 years ago - I love it, but it's just my ring!

I have freakishly small fingers(3.5 to a 4)... I love my 1/2 ct.. I couldn't see anything bigger on my fingers.. it would look REALLY odd! I am thinking of getting a new semi mount next year. Right now my band is plain.

I had tinier fingers too, they're a bit bigger after my kids (I think one is a 6 now). My engagement diamond was a 1 ct emerald cut. Our 10th anniversary, given to me at SSR right before going on the Wonder, is a 3 stone with a 1 ct emerald cut with two .75 carat ashers. I then got matching ashers for my ears after the pregnancy from hell (and my birthday and our 11th anniversary). I keep the earrings in most of the time right now, and I've been known to wear both rings (but normally just wear the 3 stone right now). For the record, got a new diamond so that each child could have one in the future. then we went and had a third....whatcha going do? LOL

My point....you get used to the bling. :lmao:

I have a 1.7 carat oval solitaire set fairly high in a six prong setting. I wear it with a plain gold band on either side to keep it from flopping around because of the weight of the stone. As you said, now it is just my ring and looks normal.

I also have a 1/2 carat from 17 years ago. I do love it, and I had no idea it was even coming--- so he picked it out himself! It was what he could afford as well.

I would never buy another ring. This is the one he picked out, why would I change that.

I don't like big jewelry anyway.
