Anyone that is a WDW person thinking of going to Disneyland for the 60th anniversary festivities?

The shows and night parade make it pretty tempting.

We are making our first trip to DL in June. Planned it as part of a 16 day trip to California and when we first planned it didn't even realize they were having this Diamond celebration. Super excited now that they have released this info!!

Friends and I will be there for the Tink 5K and we are hoping they do some soft runs of the night parade! Probably not, but we can hope!

We were there for the 50th and everyone received gold Mickey ears... it would be nice to have "Diamond" ears! DL did such a nice job with everything for the 50th. The celebration was amazing and all guests were very festive! I'm sure the 60th will be over the top!

lol, darn limited available vacation time!!

I planned my spring trip to DL partly because it was the 60th year, but knew I couldn't do the travel in the summer. Was hoping that the celebration would start early enough, but looks like I'll be there too early.

We're planning to go in the fall—probably during the Halloween season to see the Haunted Mansion overlay. I'd love to go during Christmas but am a little worried they wouldn't be doing the 60th anniversary fireworks. Does anyone know what they've done in the past?

For the 50th, the celebration began in May 2005 and the Party was July 17th. We were there on the kick-off day with the parade debut, Tim Allen doing a presentation, and the blue carpet being rolled out for the celebrities. And then were back again for the Party and then the 50th Celebration cruise.

There were gold-plated ride vehicles outside of most rides for photo ops and the Jingles horse on the carousel was gold. They celebrated for over a year - ended in October 2006.

If they keep the same calendar format, you'll be right in the middle of the year+ celebration.

I would suggest subscribing to the Disneyland Christmas super thread:

Sherry just posted about announcements that were made regarding the 60th anniversary happenings, and how they will (or might) affect the Christmas events.

During the Q&A period after the 60th anniv announcement the Disney execs said the new fireworks show would continue through the holiday season.

I also recommend subscribing to the Christmas and Halloween super threads - everything you want to know about the 2 seasons will be posted there.

We planned our trip before any of the 60th stuff was announced but we're excited to get to see it (once I found it was the 60th I jokingly said they better have a diamond encrusted castle waiting for us - guess I could see the future! lol) and get to go during a celebration. We're going in August.

We'll be there in April (miss all the 60th happenings), but will also be back in Oct and Dec.

FWIW, I have a thread on the DLR forum on this that has been getting lots of posts recently. I just updated the OP today and it may help folks on this forum who are thinking about the 60th at DL.

We had our first DL trip planned for this summer also. We were super excited to find out about the 60th anniversary. It's our 25th anniversary and that will just make our trip extra special! :)
