Diamond Celebration: 24 Hour Event @ Disneyland Resort May 22-23!

Yes, the rental period for the 24-hour day is from some time pre-park opening (I know the lockers on the Esplanade were available for rental at 5:00 am, when I got there) until just after the 24-hour event ends. Last year they had signs out saying that the Esplanade lockers would be cleared at 7:00 am (one hour after the event ended). Given that the parks have a hard close at 6:00 am, I would guess the in-park lockers are likewise cleared at or around 7:00 am.

I heard the Mad T party will go from 6pm to 6am so I guess live music for those 12 hours, of course they probably stop drink service around 130 I would think
The drinks line was cut off around 1 am because it had gotten incredibly long and they wanted to make sure that they stopped selling by 2 am. When I pulled my 3 am one, it was for the blue section, which I think is the first section that they hand out. So, I think they'd still be handing out 3 am ones around noon.

I wonder how fast the lockers in Disneyland will go and if that's a better option. I was about to ask you figment but I remember that they were closed last year. (We happened to be there the week leading up to last years event.) I wonder if that would be a better option in case of the possible capacity reaching crowds.

The biggest caveat I'd add about WoC FPs this year is that the new 60th anniversary show is going to debut. Last year, it was the same WoC show from the day before. So I would anticipate a higher demand for WoC this year.

I think the lockers will sell out, but I don't know how quickly. There are more lockers this year (all four sets are open), so hopefully that will help!

@figment_jii I don't want to start a new thread, so I'll just ask here :D

My wife and I have Napa Rose reservations and a babysitter lined up at 5:30 on Tuesday the 19th. We'll be baby free from 4:30 PM to 10 PM or so.

If we wanted to ride RSR together, what time would be best to hit up the park for a Fast Pass? Will the line be miserably long at 8:30 if we miss the window?

It's hard to predict when FPs will run out on a day like the 24-hour day. Normally, RSR FPs last about 2 hours after park opening, but that's when the park opens at a more normal time (not 6:00 am!). If you're going to be around the parks in the morning, I would call Ask Otto on a regular basis. He'll tell you the return time being distributed for RSR FP and when the time window you wants comes up (or it starts to get near), I would head over to DCA and get the RSR FP then.

Given all of the new shows and activities in the park, and the predicted/guessed crowd levels, I would anticipate a 2 hour or so standby wait during the peak time of the evening (6:00 pm to midnight). Single Rider Line will probably be shorter, but you won't get to ride with your wife (they do split up guests).

I would say they are gone by 10am or so. The only problem is the time you will get for your fast pass is unclear. It might not be in between 4:30 -10 but I think you may have a good chance. Go between 9:30am and 10am to get a ticket.
If you don't get a fast pass the line will be over 90mins.

I just booked the Welcome to Disneyland tour this morning for the 22nd. They were VERY specific that reservations for tours and restaurants will not guarantee you readmission if the park reaches capacity. They did specify that if we are denied entry due to capacity and miss the tour, we can call customer service and receive a refund.

FYI!

Wow. That's interesting.
I also didn't know tours were offered that day. Wonder how the celebration will effect that.

I'm wondering about capacity -- so you scan you ticket on the way in, and they stamp your hand on the way out, but they don't do anything to your ticket on the way out, so once your ticket has been scanned, shouldn't you be considered in and part of the count for that day? The friends I am traveling with think that this will be our ticket back in if the parks hit capacity, but I am not so sure.

I am also curious about this. I want to park hop in the evening. If we have a hand stamp will they let us in? Or do we have to wait for people to leave the park?

Kangamama, I have asked this question before. I guess Disney doesn't really give out much info as to how their park closures due to capacity crowds work. From what I can tell, the first tier of capacity closures is if you have been to the parks and have your hand stamped, you will be allowed back in. Then, if it gets more crowded, if you leave, even with your hand stamped you will not be allowed back in. So don't count on that as being a guaranteed way back into the parks.

thanks! That's pretty much what I thought. Right now we are thinking that we will take a break late morning - early afternoon, and then go back in the DL, an wait to try hopping into DCA after the second fantasmic show.

Obviously with the new parade and fireworks, last year isn't an exact prediction of how this year will go in terms of capacity. However, with that said, I park-hopped about 6-7 times last year, including 3 times at night (so dealing with the post-work/after school crowd), and never ran into capacity issues. The only time I saw insane lines to get into any park was first thing in the morning.

After listening to the special podcast on the 60th parades and fireworks I am super excited about everything, 4 more weeks and a day

They scan tickets coming in to make sure that you have a valid ticket to enter the park for the day. They count guests as they exit the park, so they have a rough (or maybe exact) idea of how many people are in the parks. When the crowds inside the park reach a certain amount, they begin to cut-off certain things (e.g., sales of tickets, new entrances, re-admittance, etc.). So, capacity isn't based on the number of guests that go through the turnstiles, it's based on the number of guests inside the park at any given time.
