Diagon Alley plan now that IOA opens earlier than Universal

My family will have one day at Universal next Saturday before we head out on a cruise. We are staying at the Hard Rock so we will have EE. IOA opens at 8:00 and Universal at 9:00. Should we line up at Universal at 6:45 and head to DA when they open and take our chances for a long line at Forbidden Journey or go to IOA first? We did FJ two years ago.

If it was me, provided you plan on coming back to Universal in the next year or two and you're not an ABSOLUTE die-hard HP fan, I would suggest going to IOA for early entry and enjoying FJ and taking the Hogwarts Express train back to London, then checking out DA and maybe taking the train back. Exploring DA will not be a problem, getting on to the Gringotts attraction is the one big problem. If you're comfortable with missing Gringotts, you'll have no problem enjoying the rest of DA and of course Hogwarts Castle/FJ.

Just my 2 cents, since you only have a day at Uni & IOA.

Enjoy your time, DA is truly amazing.

I would add that a number of people have been reporting that the lines go back down a little (not a ton, but less than 2 hours versus 4 hours in the mornings), so if you can check wait times on your phones you may sill be able to do Gringotts in the afternoon or evening. But I would second doing IOA first.
