Is there a dietician that you've seen? I would check with him/her to make sure you're doing this in a safe way. My DH was just diagnosed with type 2 about a week ago. He is meeting with a dietician next week, but in the mean time is pretty much doing weight watchers, which we've both done in the past. You really need to watch the carbs, making sure the ones you do eat come from high fiber and whole grains, as well as non-starchy fruits and vegetables. I would also try eating 5-6 mini-meals rather than 3 bigger meals to keeps your levels even, and try to eat protein at eat small meal. I wouldn't try for 20 pounds in a month.
