I'm 180 lbs, and i need to get down to about 160, before disney.
is it possible in a month to get down to near that weight?
if anyone has any tips, PLEASE tell me. :]

you will need to either add about 240 calories of excercise a day or cut down bye about 240. Just a rough estimate. The problem with low calorie diets is that the body starts optimizing calorie use so over time you lose less weight and when you get off the diet then you gain weight. My neighbor lost the weight and was slim but boom she ended up heavier. It is best to figure how much your are over and either cut back that much in food or increase the excercise that much.

Rought estimate is 10 calories a day equals about 1 pound per year.

In a month, a 240 calorie per day deficit will result in a total deficit of 7,200 calories, or a bit over 2 pounds.

OP, a 20-pound loss in a month isn't doable. If you retain a lot of water, you might lose a significant amount of water weight, but to lose 20 pounds of fat, you need a 70,000 calorie deficit - or 2,333 calories a day. And that's not possible to do in any healthy way, even if you had nothing to do but exercise.

Oops I forgot to factor in 12 times the amount which would then be 2400 a day estimate. I agree that unless you are retaining 20 pounds of water it is not doable. First you would have to figure your average daily amount that you are over and then add to that the amount you want to lose so in this case you might actually have to go higher than the 2400. The only way would be lots of water loss or doing so much excercise that you would not be able to go to WDW.

Diabetes management is a balancing act and cutting out extra calories or adding excercise will change sugar levels. If mom has a high carb meal then at night she has a lighter snack, if her meal is low carb then she needs a heavier snack.

The formula I use is 10 per pound per year which would be 200 calories per year so I definitely was not having a math day then and do not know how I came up with 240.

Just curious, but why do you need to lose 20 lbs by the time you go?

A 20 lb loss in a month is not healthy much less doable. If you are diabetic then just be really careful following your meal plan and pick up your exercise regimen and you should lose some.

Is there a dietician that you've seen? I would check with him/her to make sure you're doing this in a safe way. My DH was just diagnosed with type 2 about a week ago. He is meeting with a dietician next week, but in the mean time is pretty much doing weight watchers, which we've both done in the past. You really need to watch the carbs, making sure the ones you do eat come from high fiber and whole grains, as well as non-starchy fruits and vegetables. I would also try eating 5-6 mini-meals rather than 3 bigger meals to keeps your levels even, and try to eat protein at eat small meal. I wouldn't try for 20 pounds in a month. Maybe 7-8 is more realistic. Hey nice user name, BTW!!! Mine is after my dog, Kirby.
