Monday 7th November

We had arranged to meet Becky and Amy at our hotel the next morning and walked to the park with them for our Good Morning Fantasyland breakfast at the Chalet de la Marionnette which we always enjoy. This was the first time in the park this holiday for Rhiannon and me so we took it all in with huge delight. We just love walking into the park and hearing that wonderful Disney music and looking up Main Street to the castle – absolutely stunning and we really liked the new chandeliers.

Santa’s sleigh is in Town Square this year and is very colourful

and there are lots of pretty little Christmas trees this year instead of the character trees and at night they sparkle – really beautiful.

Central Plaza still has the huge snow-globes for the 4 princesses and it just looked stunning wherever we looked.

Amy still seemed a bit poorly but after breakfast she and Becky set off to ride Dumbo. That was when the heavens opened and it absolutely tipped it down for about 20 minutes. Poor Amy wasn’t well at all so they decided to go back to their hotel (obviously our company is just too stimulating to be endured for long!!!!)
Rhiannon and I had a leisurely wander round Belle’s Village before we could bear the anticipation no longer and simply had to go on “It’s a Small World”!!!! It was great, as always. We wandered through the Boutique du Chateau admiring all the lovely Christmas goodies, bumped into loads of characters in Central Plaza (the usual free-for-all scrum!!) and then indulged in yet more retail therapy in Main Street!! While we were there it “snowed” quite a few times – it’s so realistic – either that or Rhiannon has really bad dandruff!!!

- and we love the music that’s always played when it’s going to snow. The park was really quite quiet and as it turned out it was like that all the time we were there. All the rides were walk-ons every day and even Peter Pan, which is usually very busy, only had 5 minute waits even in the middle of the day. It’s great not to have to wait for rides and you get to meet a lot more characters. We did the “grand circle tour of the park” on the railroad and then got off in Frontierland planning to go on Big Thunder Mountain which is probably our favourite ride. We had promised ourselves that we would be really brave this time and go on Indiana Jones one day. I would have happily kept it for later in the week (or never!!) but Rhiannon said we should take the bull by the horns so we walked through to Adventureland. There was no queue so we didn’t have time to chicken out!! Once strapped in our seats and with the shoulder harnesses in place there was no going back! Sadly we both found it an extremely unpleasant experience – very jerky - and horrible to suddenly find your knees above your head and wonder what they are doing up there!!!

Well, at least we did it – for the first and last time!!!
We were wandering past Colonel Hathi’s when we suddenly saw Minnie in her safari outfit and were lucky enough to get a really nice picture of us both with her, taken by a kind CM. There were loads of characters there but the CMs don’t organise queues so there was total chaos as soon as people spotted the characters and after trying in vain to get more photos we gave up.
We walked across to Phantom Manor where the CMs seem to be more interactive nowadays and actively try to scare the living daylights out of you by creeping up on you in the dark and whispering in your ear etc – but very funny !! We always love Phantom Manor. By this time the rain had completely disappeared and the sun was shining beautifully and it was quite warm. We had lunch at Col Hathi’s and then walked across to watch the parade in Fantasyland. We had a brilliant view as the park was quiet

Then across to Adventureland again for another of our favourites, Pirates of the Caribbean which was as good as ever. Every time we went on it through the week we could have stayed on to ride again as there were no queues. Then to Peter Pan.
At 6 o’clock we went to Central Plaza to watch the Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony which we absolutely loved last year. As soon as we hear the “Chante, c’est Noel” music a shiver goes up your spine – it’s wonderful. It’s slightly different this year as the princesses don’t ride up Main St in carriages. Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chip, Dale and Goofy get everything ready for Mickey’s arrival by setting up a Christmas tree and Christmas lights on the stage in Central Plaza while traditional Christmas songs are playing.

Then Mickey and 8 dancers arrive to the tune of “One Man’s Dream” followed by the 4 princesses and their princes who dance to each of the princesses’ theme tunes. The stage is full of Disney characters and it’s extremely colourful.

Then Tinkerbell appears on one of the castle balconies and sprinkles fairydust over the gigantic Christmas tree which lights up followed by all the chandeliers in Main Street and it starts to snow. It’s really a beautiful show and we really love it.

At 7 o’clock we watched the Fantillusion Parade which is another favourite of ours

Then it was nearly time for the bonfire and fireworks on Lake Disney which was quite spectacular but our feet were really protesting at all the activity of the day!!! As Amy hadn’t wanted to get out of bed to watch the fireworks we went to see her and Becky in their hotel room and had a really nice chat for about half an hour or so. It was a shame Amy hadn’t been well but it was lovely to see them both and spend at least a little time with them both.
Then Rhiannon and I went back to our hotel and had a nice meal in the Beaver Creek Tavern before a well deserved sleep!! An exhausting but thoroughly enjoyable day!!

Lovely photograph and report Di. :)
I would have been starving not eating until that late :teeth:

These are great photos I am so looking forward to going(I might have mentioned that recently) The Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony looks better this year than last year as much as i like the princesses my heart really belongs to the fab 5.

I am so pleased you had a good time.

Di, What beautiful photos! :goodvibes Those chandeliers are stunning - I suppose they are only up at Christmas time? And you did indiana Jones, I am so impressed!!! :scared1:

It must be so lovely to go and be able to take everything in so leisurely - we always seem to be rushing around at an awful pace, but it sounds like you and Rhiannon were really able to soak up all the sights and sounds.

Thank you

Kaye :goodvibes

Looks and sounds absolutely wonderful.

I'm sadder than ever now that we won't be going this Christmas.

What a lovely day in the park! :goodvibes We would have really enjoyed it too, if we'd been there!! ;)

Fabulous photos, and I loved those sparkly trees in Town Square too - so pretty!

Oooh, lovely photos, especially the first one! Did you take the one of Indiana Jones?!

Really enjoyed reading this again. :) Rhiannon, I've just noticed that you have a kind of Alyson Hannigan (Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) look about you!!

I've just had another look at your photos - I think those last two are amazing!!

Absolutely stunning photos! By the way what sort of breakfast do you get in Chalet de la Marionette as we might try that next time to make the most of our AP early entry priviledge.

What a lovely trip report, Di (and Rhiannon)! :) I really enjoyed reading it and looking at your fantastic photos. I'm now really jealous of everyone who's going this Christmas. :guilty: I'm going to suggest to Claire that maybe we should go in November next year, as opposed to December. I expect it'll be cheaper, warmer, and much quieter... not to mention slightly sooner. ;)

Thank you everyone for your very kind comments!

Emma - the photo from Indiana Jones (which makes me scared just looking at it!!!) I scanned from "From Sketch to Reality". Rhiannon (and I) loved Buffy. I'm sure she'll be flattered to be compared to Willow!! (R. had a big thing going for Angel a few years back!!! ;) )

Becky - the last 2 photos I "borrowed" from Joel. They are great aren't they? I keep looking for more but haven't come across any so far anywhere.

Angela - at breakfast you get a range of cereals, yoghurts, rolls, ham, cheese, croissants, pains au chocolat etc, coffee, hot chocolate, tea and probably other things I wasn't bothered about and therefore can't recall - a good spread and you help yourself to as much as you want.

Bonnie - November will most definitely be quieter and warmer - it was perfect!

I was going to ask your tips for taking such stunning photos!! Could you direct me to the site they came from please?

And I'm amazed by all these Buffy fans coming out of the closet!! Another huge fan here too!!! :cheer2:

It all sounds so lovely - and aren't the pictures just great!

I am slowly learning how to add pictures to posts and plan to get some really good ones when we go in January.:goodvibes

Thanks for that trippie - glad you had so much fun even if Indiana wasn't for you.

Great report and pictures, the one of Main Street and the Castle lit up is fantasic.

I know what you mean about Indiana Jones. I go on it every year but I just trying to think of a good reason why, it rattles you about like a rag doll always come off with glowing ears where they've bashed against the head restraint.

Saying that, you should have tried it when it went backwards, my ears have gone sore just thinking about it!!!

Cheers

Oh lovely !!

I can't wait to have a Disney Christmas !! :goodvibes

Glad you had a nice time and you confirmed my suspicions about Indiana Jones - not for me I think !

Your report and pictures are brilliant. I have never been at Christmas, and now I really want to go. Maybe next year .....

:earsboy:

Oh, DI & Rhiannon, Looks like you are having a fantastic time :goodvibes

The pictures are getting me sooo giddy for my own trip in Dec'
