Hi there! it was my understanding that DD were same as cash. Meaning that when we got back from vacay we could turn them in for cash if we had any left over (highly unlikely but you never know). Well we went to the DS this weekend and they told me that i would have to purchase something for each DD i wanted to cash in???? what if i dont want anything from the DS??? we purchase our DD in a lot of small increments soo if i have about 30$ in ones i have to just keep them??? this doesn't seem right if you ask me? Thanks!

You used to be able to turn them back in with a receipt and get the cash back, but I'm not sure you can even do that anymore. Definitely not without a receipt though.
Do you have anyone you could give them as a gift to? (like a bday or something) Or maybe you could just hang onto them for the next trip.

I always assumed they were like a gift card just way cuter. I would never had thought to turn them back in for cash.

Could you turn in a stack of ones and get a larger bill, then just buy something small with it and get cash back?

I know when I worked retail we had store money that could not be exchanged for cash - but we could give change back in cash after a purchase.

Not sure what the policy on Disney Dollars is.

It seems to me that I exchanged leftover DD's at Disneyworld for real cash at the end of one visit.

I can't even remember why I had some left over but I think I did it at Animal Kingdom.

You used to be able to exchange them at TDS but that was when Disney still owned it. That may be why you're having trouble. Sorry I can't be of more help.

thank you all! after not getting a response for a couple days, i called WDW. They said i can get 1DD for 1$ at WDW or DL, but NOT at TDS. They have their own set of rules or what-not. so we figure we will just put the DDs that we have onto the GC that we bought for WDW!!! we just don't like the idea of a wad of DDs when we have the WDW gift card! woohhoo!!
