My DH lets me do all the planning and scheduling our vacations, he does not like to make phone calls. We are scheduled to camp at FW for 9 days, starting Sept. 4. This will be our 8th trip to WDW, every one we had some kind of package deal or special to come there. He was talking last night and said that with the price of gasoline increasing daily, and with September being hurricane season, considering last year's major storms, he THINKS Disney will offer some great deals to attract business this year. Now mind you, this is a man who never offers an opinion on anything to do with travel and vacation, and for him to make a comment like that, he must really be thinking ahead and looking forward to our trip. This is theory only, not based on any real evidence of codes, specials, or package deals. Just his humble opinion. Lets hope he is right. We would forgo the camping experience for a great deal on free dining, reduced room rates, anything, it really doesn't matter, we will be at DISNEY!
Anyone else care to comment on his theory.

The major airlines have already noted an increase in bookings for this summer so obviously the increase in airfare/fuel isn’t being a deterrent. While the war carries on, it has become less “front page news” and people seem less interested in the day-to-day proceedings. The economy is fairly stable and the immediate fears of recession and job retention are diminished. In short, many families are taking those vacations they have put off. Further, many people posting on this very board are reporting that resorts no longer have AAA rate rooms’ still available a few months out (unlike previous years), so I’d hazard a guess that Disney is looking pretty full… If that trend continues, I don’t see Disney offering that great a promotion this year as they simply won’t have to. They're currently offering the waterparks and more bonus which actually costs them very little. The hopper portion is virtually a "no cost" option barring the increase in transportation, and I'll estimate the water park option won't be heavily utilized -- and if it is, people may increase the length of stay by a day to enjoy it -- and Disney wins again!

I hope he's right, too. I'll be thrilled with even a park hopper add-on. I only want to park hop once, so it wasn't worth it to buy for our entire stay.
