Words that you NEVER want to hear..................cancer.
With that being said, I really think some doctors need to take a course in humanity. The doctor called me this morning. He said he had already spoken to Dennis at work. The "swollen gland" is definitely a maligent tumor.............he then gives me this name of something that sounds like it comes straight from hell................Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
This is all spoken with as much emotion as you would tell someone that their car needed a new exhaust system.
The doctor will contact Unv of Penn to schedule an appointment. You can only imagine the thoughts that were running through my mind.
Some minutes pass and the shock wears off. I get on the internet and go to webmd. A search on this cancer shows that it is skin cancer. Now, cancer is cancer BUT these words sure as heck would of taken the 'sting' out. Success rate is high with "proper treatment". More than likely, he will be admitted, the mass removed and chemo and/or radiation will follow.
I don't mean to sound like I am making light of a serious situation. It is just that this is probably the best scenario if you have to deal with cancer. I am thinking optimistically.........but realistically. I have called Disney and asked what would happen if I would need to cancel my reservations as well as tickets to MVMCP. Disney treated me wonderfully and told me not to worry about anything. Worse case scenario and I need to cancel, they would refund my tickets, no problems at all.
Thanks for listening to me. Send whatever pixie dust you can spare.
