DHS Soundstage 1 Project

Well this goes along with all of the rumors that have been going around.

Now the waiting game until official plans are announced.

I just hope it's not all under construction when we go in 2015!

I'd like to point out some interesting things about this permit.

It's labeled project 3. Maelstrom is labeled project 6...

It's being done under the company Whiting Turner, who is doing maelstrom and had most recently done the work at the GF.

It's for 2 years...

This is most likely much more than a simple addition of a third track.

Also hearing reports John Lasseter, Meg Crofton, George Kalogridis, Tom Staggs, and Tom Fitzgerald are all in DHS today....

Do you expect an announcement because they're there?
No they are there looking over the area and John Lasseter doesn't make many WDW appearances so this has to be something bigger than a track expansion for TSMM

BTW, adding a third track to TSMM is one of the stupidest rumors I've ever heard in all the years I've been following rumors. I would eat my hat if that happens.

Everything Disney does is to increase revenue. Adding another track would cost $50 million, increase operating costs, and do almost ZERO to increase revenue. It makes NO sense at all.

How do you market that?
"Disney's Hollywood Studios! Now with 50% shorter lines on one attraction! Plan your vacation today!"

Oh, and I'll point out it wouldn't actually result in 50% shorter lines, because of the popularity combined with faster loading would just mean more people would get in line, so you'd just have more customers in the line for the same amount of time. That would be brilliant!

Here it is proof that the big shots are in DHS. This could seriously mean big things are coming.

That is an unusually large amount of bigwigs in one group isn't it? If it is it seems like it would be good news, however, you pointed out that the permit is for two years. Two years for Disney seems like a very short time for something major, unless it is a clone of another ride. It seems conflicting to me. The Maelstrom permit is 18 months is it not?

With Lasseter there, doesn't that kind of imply a Pixar land?

With the bigwigs there, with plans in hand, it does seem like one of the rumored "lands" is officially a go, doesn't it?

So will it be Pixar Land? Star Wars Land? I don't really think they'd all be there just for 1 more attraction or an expansion to an attraction.

I agree also on the wdwmagic boards people were bringing up the points that it wouldn't actually decrease lines by much at all.

Correct and the same company is in charge of both permits. Two years does seem too long for just a track addition as well. That leads me to believe it's more than that.

One would think... He is a top exec in imagineering as we'll tho so pretty much every WDI project crosses his desk at some point.

I really think it's more Pixar related than Star Wars based on where it's located.
