DHS Sorcerer's Hat to be removed

I am saddened. I know people didn't like it, but Fantasia is one of my favorite Disney movies, and I really liked the hat!

This is interesting. Every year we go to WDW, I get the same kind of magnet - it's a soft one, usually blue background, with the year and various characters on it, and it sometimes will have the four park icons. I was noticing that my 2014 magnet had the Earful Tower and not the hat as the icon for the Studios and wondered why that was. Maybe now I know.

I had heard a few weeks ago about the potential demise of the hat but hadn't picked up on the hat being gone from the 4 Parks merch. I just got out my keychain that I got in Aug and sure enough, Mickey Ear water tower, no hat.

Aint gonna happen. That stage has been up for years now. Even though it is technically temporary. (The hat was technically temporary as well.) It was used for High School Musical and now Frozen and the weird DJ during the day.

There's no more Frozen stuff happening at the stage anymore.

And the Peter Pan queue.

Really? It was up the last 5 trips we have made, literally. It was up this past May and then last month. And the fall 2013. I guess it was Star Wars in May, Frozen last month. No clue what it was Fall 2013 then. We had not gotten a good Hat picture in years. Guess we never will again!

oh thank you! I was just there 10/12-10/19 and I didn't remember seeing a stage. . . I really thougt I was beginning (?) to lose my mind!

Which was done after many reports were that Maelstrom was about to get axed. The writing was on the wall, so they used our nostalgia of the ride to push a merchandise money grab on us. It worked. I bought one knowing I'd never get to ride again (Even though I only liked the ride) as homage to it.

When this thread made it look like an announcement might be coming today, I went to the Disney Store website and bought the 4 parks icon Mickey Ear Hat Christmas Ornament that has the hat on it. I don't even like the line of ear hat ornaments much!!!
