rnr is closed and tot has a 105 minute wait and tsm has 120. Gmr is 50 mins and there isn't much else to do. They really need to tap into marvel or guardians of the Galaxy. Lma is taking lots of people but you can tell closing of backlot tours has caused an increase in wait times on other rides as this ride was always full during summer.

When we were there last week at this time we had done RnRC, TOT, Star Tours with FP and now were sitting watching the processional eating a Mickey bar before heading into Indiana Jones.

Same!

Hopefully during the D23 Expo next month more announcements will be out with the changes coming to DHS. Maybe they will at least give us the upcoming name change for DHS and what the supposed $3 billion dollar overhaul will include.

We will only be going to HS for dinner and Star Tours on our next trip. It isnt even a 1/4 day park anymore to us.

They can not. Sadly.

It needs more though, that's for sure. Will be curious to see the direction it goes in the next year or so

Just wait 7 or 8 or 12 years and the problem will be solved.

RNR was down for two and a half days when we were there in May.

We were here at rope drop on Sunday and rode tot and rnr twice in about an hour. Unfortunately if you like riding the attractions more than once a day your only choice is to get to the parks at rope drop. This is of course during the busy time and you don't want to stand in line for an hour or two.

This part of the week seems more busy than last week for some reason.

Why can't they use those two? They own the rights don't they?

They *can* use Guardians, and some of those characters have made a few appearances in the parks. Most of the best-known Marvel characters are still excluded because of the contract that Universal has. That will eventually be resolved, but it will either be very expensive or it will take a few years. The lawyers are said to have tried every angle but there seems to be no "sneaky" way around the contract. Even the Iron Man monorail had to be kept off the Epcot line once they discovered it was technically in violation. (The other lines were OK, as the train never actually enters a park on those lines.)

Yes, and No.

Correct. The deal struck gave Universal rights to continue to use the Marvel characters, east of the Mississippi River, inside the parks. They own the rights in perpetuity. So forever, or until Disney can work some sort of deal that ends it early. Disney can, and does, use the images west of the Mississippi.
My personal opinion is Disney is content to concentrate on Marvel our West and let Universal keep it out East. I don't have any inside knowledge at all but my guess is we won't see WDW fight to get Marvel.

Patience is what Disney is preaching about the studios right now. Jim Hill @ Jim Hill Media has some excellent inside information on the expansion of this park. Disney does realize the urgency to begin expansions and it will come. Ultimately, the preparation of this park, Avatar in the AK, and the edition of another E ticket attraction at the MK will be for marketing and accomodating the park's upcoming anniversaty in a few years.

Sorry, but no time frame to offer you here on seeing Marvel in the parks (at least in Florida anyways). When you have time to read through some boring mumbo-jumbo legal jibberish, check out the master liscensing agreement :)

I continue saying it, despite the crowd impact it would have on the other 3 parks, the should just close DHS and be done with the renovations in 2 years, rather than take 5-7 years to open a single new ride. At one time it was my favorite park. Now for a 10 day trip my entire DHS itinerary consists of:

5-6pm TSMM
5:50 Brown Derby Fantasmic dinner
7-8 ToT
8:30 Fantasmic
Done

I have a throw away FP for earlier in the day, but we won't be back from Universal in time for it.

I think it has been confirmed that they can actually use GOTG in Florida but that is the only Marvel produce they would utilize due to the universal agreement that was made.

Right, my post specifically referred to Marvel rights. However, I think even their use of GotG is somewhat limited. Or a grey area. Some some of both.

That's what happens when you have a park with 5 rides .. and a bunch of shows.
If you are smart ALL your fast passes are used for rides .. imagine the FP availability and length of standby lines if there were no tiering and you could FP both TSMM and RnRC!

Looking forward to my trip there in August, but it will probably be a very relaxing day ...
Still deciding what to hit on Rope Drop ... TSMM (even though we have a FP+ for it later .. or Great Movie Ride) .. (RnRC isn't really an option without breaking up the group .. 1/3 of the group are pre-schoolers)

Sorry, I would have to "break up" a group I was in ...could not leave the park without doing RnR or ToT....you can do BOTH @ Rope Drop...run ahead of your group and do them both in the first 30 min !!!! Also there is a Child Swap ...look into that :)
