We've only eaten at Sci-Fi dine in, which we liked. They had decent burgers and it was so nice to sit down in a cool, dimly lit place on a hot day. The atmosphere was fun too.

I'm leaning towards 50's Prime Time for our next trip for meatloaf and s'mores but I'm interested to hear what everyone's favorite lunch options are for DHS, either table service or counter. I'd also consider anything close by or easy to get to, since we'll have a car.

So what's your favorite lunch option at DHS?

Edit: I didn't list Pizza Planet or ABC Commissary. We've been there and it wasn't really what we were looking for. :P

STARRING ROLLS! You don't even have it listed as an option!!!

Great use of a CS credit and also a wonderful place to split a meal. The sandwiches are huge and tasty (love the bread). The 'side' is a BIG bag of chips, not a little lunchbox size. And the dessert choices......OMGIH, the dessert choices...........

Oh, I thought they just had pastries! I've only ever been there for breakfast. See? This is why I started this thread.

I'm paying OOP, by the way, but when I'm on vacation I try not to worry too much about cost.

Do you have a picture of the huge sandwiches? When we were there Aug 28th the sandwich was nice and fat but only looked like a quarter of a sandwich as far as bread goes. I'm wondering if they changed them?

I agree. I loved Starring Rolls!

For Table Service Restaurants I have been to 50's Prime Time Cafe and Brown Derby.

For Quick Service Locations I have been to ABC Commissary and Backlot Express.

I voted for 50's Prime Time Cafe because I enjoyed their food which I say tastes great and I love their atmosphere.

Out of the TS, I like Brown Derby more than the others. Lunch and dinner menus are the same there. The Cobb salad is a favorite for many but I enjoy the fish entree.

In the park, I would choose the Brown Derby. If you don't mind leaving the park for lunch, I would walk or take a boat over to the Dolphin and have lunch at the Cabana Bar. They have delicious sandwiches, salads and flatbreads.

I've been a Sci-Fi girl since I was about 12. A month ago, that would be my hands down must book for lunch at the Studios.

But, last week I had Mama Melrose booked because of the Fantasmic package. I'm the type that does one TS a day, and if it's lunch I'm fine with a rice krispie treat later on. I was nervous with the mixed reviews on the board, but it was so worth it. I'm extremely picky about Italian, and the food was on par with Tuttoa Italia. The bread was actually better.

So for lunch that's my new vote.

IMO, HBD is by far the best restaurant in DHS. So, if you're only eating one meal there, I'd go to HBD. It's more of a dinner spot for us though. We like the appetizers, entrees, & desserts, & we don't eat that big of a meal at lunch. Dining my way at DHS would be an early lunch at Sci-FI (I love the atmosphere & the burgers are good) & dinner at HBD. ;)

TS: 50s Primetime (get the PB&J shake....:lovestruc)

CS: Starring Rolls...get a cupcake for dessert

A word of caution about Starring Rolls: when I say lunch, I really mean it. The sandwiches are fresh-made that day and when they're gone, they're gone. I understand that they often run out by about 2:30 pm. The whole place closes for the day around 4 pm.

Love the burgers and milkshakes at Sci Fi, and the artichoke spinach dip is out of this world.

I voted for 50's PT. We had lunch at Sci-Fi on a previous trip that we all loved. We wanted to try something new this past June and ate at 50's. It was terrific all the way around! We loved the atmosphere and decor, and had a lot of fun. Instead of a meal, it was an "experience", something to remember instead of just ingesting food somewhere.

I'm all about trying new things to create new memories with my family, so I vote for going someplace you haven't been yet.

Having said that, I had always wanted to eat at HBD. We didn't have an ADR this past trip but it worked out for us to eat dinner there one night, we walked up and they were able to seat us right away, and I'm soooo glad we were able to finally eat there as well. We really liked it and would return there again.

Have a great time!!!

50's PTC is my family's go-to in DHS. It's reliable, we love the food, and have always enjoyed ourselves. Plus they have yummy adult beverages :thumbsup2

I voted for Sci-Fi for lunch. Cool atmosphere with good food and nice and quiet for a little down time as you watch silly snippets.

I really like 50s Prime Time too but I think for lunch, I would vote Sci Fi and for dinner, 50s Prime time.
