First of all, I want to thank the moderators of this board and to all who posted on my threads in the last couple of weeks. Your info has been invaluable and really helped to make our trip !
You rock!
DH had a herniated disc two and 1/2 weeks before our trip. He had trouble standing and walking and most of all, sitting. I was a nervous wreck! We had been planning this vacation with my parents and brothers for 6 months! He had a positive attitude and said if he had to just lay around, at least he was in FL and could be around the pool. He got a cortisone shot two days before we left which helped him to be able to sit comfortably, it just became standing in place that was painful.
After the first hour or so at MK with pain standing in place, he asked me about the GAC card I had researched on here and went to GR to get one. He said the CM was very nice and didn't question a thing. The next day he saw a little foldable stool to sit on at DTD. He bought it and it gave him more confidence, along with the GAC, that he could do the slower rides and not just have to wait for the rest of us on benches out side of the rides. We tried it the next day for Soarin' which was already packed even though we got there early. It worked like a charm each time and made DH really be able to enjoy the rides he could actually go on. We also used it at POTC, Peter Pan, Indy Speedway, Buzz Light Year, Splash Mt., and Kilam. Safari. He used it once to wait in line with us for RnRC so he could at least see the queue line and watch us take off...it's his fav ride and was hard for him not to go on it! Other than that, we planned our trip well so that we didn't wait in line much at all. We only encountered one CM who said that the wait for POTC was only 20 min and he didn't need to use it. DH was like, I can't even stand for 2 min. in place! So we found a different CM who was organizing the strollers outside and she let us and another family with a GAC in with no problems. I'm not going to lie, the GAC was a nice perk for the rest of us as well. I think we only took advantage of it to go on POTC in the late afternoon when we brought my parents to the park and to go on Soarin' once later in the day when my parents got back from golfing.
There were other people in much more need of a GAC than DH, but it did help him get less fatigued, have less pain, and actually have fun and take his mind off of his injury for once since it happened.
Thanks again for all your support! It truly did make a difference to us!
