DH's friend called...

to "let us know" that he and his family will be visiting us later this month, the day and the time that they will arrive and the time that they plan to leave. As he said in his message, "We'll spend 3/4 of the day to half a day at your house". Really?

Don't you just love when people invite themselves to your house? Wow, he is in for a "nice surprise"! Oh joy!

Did you check with your DH? I have a friend whose DH makes plans for family to visit but then "forgets" to tell his wife. Next thing you know, poof they're at the doorstep packed for a week stay and she's like, WHAT?!"

Pete's mom, DH did tell me that his friend and his family have plans to visit us later this month. Last night, his friend left a message giving us the details of their plans. Last time his friend and his son visited, I felt like running away from my house. They stayed for two days and I thought I was going to go mad. I went along with it to make DH happy, but I can't do this again.

He and his wife are very nasty and negative people, they like to ridicule and tear people down. He has made some wrong choices in his life and now resents others that have a better life than they do. I don't care to be subjected to that or to be around that. Instead of me telling them, once and for all, what I really think about them, I think it's best if we don't get together. I think they are trying to use us as lodging before their hotel room is ready in Miami, they live in Orlando. I still feel bad for DH, he is always the peace maker.

Well, at least they aren't spending the night! Here's what happens when DH's family comes to visit us. We (DFIL, DMIL, and I) sit around the table, drink coffee and talk. And talk. Did I mention I don't like to talk a lot? Did you notice that DH is not in the roll call? That's because he found some yard work to do, and was outside most of the day..... And he complains because they never come to see us....

I'm torn because I think they are being very polite in advising
you of their plans ahead of time instead of making you sit around
and wait for them to show up or wonder when and if they are
coming. Your DH did know they were coming and they are his friends, right. I don't see a problem with people coming by for
the day or being polite to old friends especially if they are not
spending the night. Are you expected to fix some type of gourmet
meal or something? Get cold cuts, chips and pop. Take off your
shoes, put on some good music and relax.
Your DH will appreciate your attitude and his friends will enjoy
themselves. Make sure the food is YOUR favorite, the music
is YOUR favorite and tune them out.
