Trying to plan a birthday visit to DHS for my 5yo DS. Jedi training academy is a priority as well as Star tours and TSM. We are looking at 2 possible days in late April. Both days have fantasmic at 8:30. One of the days has morning EMH. We are staying on property so could take advantage of the early opening. Probably will not attend Fantasmic. So my question is which day do you think will be better crowd wise.

Also will we be able to sign up for Jedi training during EMH or do we have to wait until 9?

Thank you

I don't know about Jedi training since I don't have little ones.

I think on an EMH morning, I'd either avoid DHS, or leave after riding TSMM.

In December we went to DHS on a Sunday night EMH evening. We lined up at 7pm for the 8pm show and we basically could have had our pick of seats. We ended up sitting about 10 rows back dead center. Could have sat closer, but didn't want to. I didn't find the evening EMH crowds to be bad at all. Lots of people seemed to leave after Fantasmic! and the lines for everything (except TSMM) were walk on or at most 10-20 min.

I know April can be a different story especially with Spring break, but at least in Dec it really wasn't so bad. The later show is always better for F!

They do JTA sign ups during EMH's, the location has changed alot lately so try before EMH RD at Prime Time Cafe, then swing by Sounds Dangerous onto the way to JTA stage, they will be at one of those 3 places usually. You will need your kids with you to sign up.

Hi there! We were just thereone month ago on a day when HS had morning EMH, so I hope this will be helpful. I posted this on another thread, but here's our experience:

We arrived at Hollywood Studio at 7:40am (EMH started at 8am). This was VERY important! When we arrived, my DH took our DS (5 years old) and walked down the big street past the entrance on the left hand side. There was a cast member holding a sign for Jedi Training Academy directing them to turn left towards Hollywood and Vine restaurant - they followed that sign, while the rest of us went straight to wait for the park opening in front of the Sorceror's Hat (bearing right so we'll be ready for Toy Story Mania dash).

DH said they had to get in another line to sign up for JTA, but the line was relatively short, and DS was signed up for 10:10am show (was told to come back for a check-in at 9:40am). Park opened (EMH) while they were still doing the sign up, so the rest of us made the brisk walk towards the Toy Story Mania and when we got to the front of TSM they joined us and we proceeded to the stand by line for TSM. As soon as we got out, we got Fast Passes for TSM and all this was done before 9am (the regular park opening time).

Here are some observations:
1) If you're not a resort guest, do NOT got to Hollywood Studio on an EMH morning day (unless you don't care for TSM or JTA). By 11 am all the fastpasses for TSM were gone for the day, and JTA was pretty much full.
2) If you're interested in JTA, be at the park BEFORE the park opening! When we went back to check-in our DS at 9:40am for his 10:10am show, people were coming up to sign their children up and being told that they will be signing up for 6pm show - which soon became the 8pm show (I kid you not). If you are a resort guest and going on EMH day, you still should go well before the opening - we still had to wait 20 minutes or so in line for TSM, and DS was NOT in the earliest JTA show even though we were there before the park opened!
3) If your child is on a little timid side (like our DS), take them to one of the previous shows so they can see what they will be doing . This helped DS a lot since he was reassured that no one was hurt, and that Darth Vader had nothing on the joined power of the Younglings' Force.
4) May the Force be with you 'cause you're gonna need it!

Now, if you're wondering, "is it worth it?" well, I'm here to tell you that the show is very well done, and JTA was DH's highlight of the whole trip! They give each youngling Jedi robe & training sword, a little training and they get to each fight Darth Vader! We got it on video and it is so much fun. They each get a certificate at the end, too, and DH is proud to tell that he is now a Padawan instead of a Youngling. If your son is SW fan, it's worth it.

I cannot stress enough the importance of being there before opening especially if you want to do both JTA and TSM. May be you'll get lucky and it won't be so crazy. But from what I could gather, most of the days it does get crazy and many kids miss out on JTA because they showed up too late. Better safe than sorry especially if it's his birthday celebration!

Good luck:)
