DH's car was broken into last night!

DH went out to go to work this morning and his car was broken into. They didn't steal anything, but they cracked the steering wheel and now that car can't be driven! People who do things like this make me sooo mad! It is going to cost us $127 just to get it towed and then who knows how much to fix, if they can fix it. This just ticks me off.

I'm sorry to hear about this, I am glad that they didn't take anything or the car. I don't understand why people have to do the things they do either. Sending PD that it won't cost too much to have it repaired.

Oh Debbie, that all sounds so familiar!!!!
I see that some things never change. And hold on to your purses when you take public transportation or walk in the streets, I know that all too well.
If they cracked the steering column, obviously they tried to steal the car. Good luck to you my friend, and I hope it doesn't cost you too much money.

your car insurance should cover it as an attempted theft or vandalism..... have you called your insurance agent..

Well, rats! How frustrating. I'm sorry you are having to deal with this expense and inconvenience.

My son's jeep was stolen when he lived in Hamtramck. He got it back (surprisingly) but the steering column had been punched and the dashboard cracked and every single cd stolen. His school books were left behind The jeep was in the shop for several weeks to be repaired and he had to use <i>my</i> car.

I hope you get your car back soon and I hope your auto insurance covers the expense.

We finally made it to the insurance company (they are located an hour away and they didn't want to talk over the phone). Luckily the car was not stolen as I didn't realize our car only had liability and towing. Apparently over here (not sure if it is everywhere) if the car is over 7 years old that is all you can carry, so thankfully we still have the car. It took two days, but the steering column is fit and all together it cost $328, $128 which is towing and will be reimbursed. It still burns me that I am out $200 and a lot of aggravation for parking my car in front of my house and minding my own business. But I guess I really am thankful it wasn't stolen because it would be a lot worse.

I'm glad that from all of this, you didn't totally lose out. I hate dealing with insurance companies. My husband was driving to work one day when a rock flew from one of those big trucks and cracked our window. Although my husband had the truck company's phone number, driver's name, and license plate, they didn't do anything about it, and we had to pay a couple hundreds to get the repair done ourselves.
