Dh wants to get some sleep this time, mods better?

Good to have an idea of where to request, I'll also ask for a top floor room which had been suggested before. When do I put in a request? When I make the reservations?

request when you make your reservation.

I think the mods and values have the same noise level because they are outside entry units and people will always be walking right in front of your door and window.

We prefer the deluxe resorts because you cannot hear a thing.

We thought the Caribbean Beach Resort was much quieter than the Values. BUT, since we go about one weekend per month Sept. through April or May, we usually stay Value because it's considerably cheaper, and just bring a box fan. (If you're flying rather than driving, you can bring a white noise machine--they're very small.)

You can often get the Dolphin for just a little more than a Moderate and the Dolphin is very, very quiet (and the proximity to the Boardwalk and Epcot is outstanding! :thumbsup2 ).

Very helpful!
I am leaning toward POP even though the others sound lovely. SInce we are staying for 9days the cost to move up to PORr or CSR is $675 more and CBR is $830 more. I'm thinking maybe that $ would be better spent on extras like the pirate cruise and shopping?:confused3

This is how DH and I feel. We love to eat and would rather spend the extra $$ on a great table-service meal than on the hotel room. BUT if you don't plan to spend all your time at the resorts, the mods have more activities than the values--for instance, the hammocks, boat rentals, and ping pong at CBR. It's a beautiful resort and fun to just walk around and look at the turtles in the water, hang out on the white-sand beach (warning--you can't swim in any of the lakes/lagoons at Disney), etc.

As far as activities go, the Boardwalk area is probably the best place to stay (of all the hotels near the Boardwalk, the Dolphin is the least expensive). The Dolphin has an outstanding pool area, plus you can rent boats, plus you can walk or take a boat over to the Boardwalk to the arcade, ice cream shop, pizza shop etc. and rent a surrey. You could actually enjoy a day without going to the parks at all if you wanted to.

We really enjoyed Pop. We went during free dining in 2006 and had a room facing the 50's pool. We were never disturbed. You can always request to be facing the lake.

you will be fine at Pop just asked for a high floor not facing any pools. That is what we did and it was fine, no issues with outside noise.

We've stayed at POR and it was VERY quiet the whole week we were there. It was nice.

I know people who have stayed at CSR and hated it. They said it was noisy and a lot of people were there because it's a convention resort so there are always people around. They enjoyed the pool but felt that it didn't make up for the hoards of people that were always around. They said never again.

I know people who love CBR and we'd like to stay there in the future. The main pool is currently closed for renovations and that's the reason we decided not to stay there for our trip.

I would say give POP a try and see if it's better than ASSports. I've never heard anything negative about it.

I have been told that POFQ is incredibly quiet and tranquill and a GREAT relaxing resort.. and small in size... We decided to stay here after booking Beach Club orginally due to the wonderful things we heard about it in regrads to the above... we leave in 24 days so I will have a full report - but I would look into Port Orleans French Quarter

2. Turbo toilets

The Values, AKL, & SSR are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.
CSR was built in 1997 after Allstars in 1994. Pop was in 2003.

CSR is very tranquil, relaxing and romantic. It also does not shared buses like POR/POFQ. That alone is a nightmare.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but, I had debated this very same thing myself! Last year, we stayed in a preferred room at Pop, because a family member we were traveling with has some hip/walking issues, so it was really necessary. Of course, we were right across from the Hippy Dippy Pool, and it was very loud at night.

That being said, I have a hard time spending anywhere upwards of $500 more for a vacation that is, for us, going to be essentially the same, just in a different room. Since we have DS3, the theming of the Pop is more to our taste for his enjoyment. When he's older, I'm hoping to move up into one of the mods, when the distance between things won't be such an issue, and perhaps I'll be looking for more relaxing/down time.

That being said, I've read a lot of threads, and the main Pop FAQ thread about where people stay when they want a quieter room. The general consensus is to request something on the fourth floor, lakeside. This will ensure that you are not facing a pool, and no one will be walking above, which should help eliminate some of the noise issues. I would recommend searching for a map of the Pop resort, so you can possibly pick a building. I've noticed a lot of DISers put in room requests when they make their reservations, and also fax them to the room assignor three days prior to their trip. There's a sample fax in that thread also, I believe. HTH! :goodvibes

It all depends on if you plan on spending more time at the resorts. 3 of the mods are bigger so there is more room for guests to spread out. I prefer CSR over the other mods. It has a great pool your kids will love. A playground area at the mail pool, awesome transportation (best we've experienced) and I love the food court.

Just letting the Op know that last September when we were at POP they upgraded all the in room radios to ones that can hold an MP3 player and also had several built in noise functions (waves, ehite nosieETc)...we used them a few nights with our little ones and it really helped. We were also 3rd floow facing the lake and only had nosie once when a family was checking out very very early, like 3 am!!!

I'd pick CSR for its relaxed atmosphere. It's a very quiet resort, very beautiful in the evening with all the lights reflecting off the lake.

I have stayed at CBR, CSR and POR and have never had any issues with noise. The moderates tend to be more laid back and peaceful, which is why I like them.

I think the noise level in your room depends on your neighbors.
We've stayed at values and never heard a peep.
We stayed at CSR last year and had to be moved because our neighbors we're crazy loud--all night! And they apparently didn't care for the no smoking rule. But once we moved, we were very pleased!

I too am a POFQ fan. It's small, quiet, and has its own bus stop at MK in the evening.

We stayed at CBR last year, our room faced the parking lot and the bus stop was right there, we never heard a thing. It was so wonderful, that we decided to go back again this year.

One of the reasons we generally stay in a mod is because of our observations that the noise levels were lowe4r than those at the values.

Your right, it's the luck of the draw with neighbors on vacation just like it is at home, sometimes you just get some bad ones:lmao:
I'll do some positive thinking for good ones at POP.:goodvibes

I do definitely receive more complaints about noise issues at the Value resorts than I do at the Mods. Just my .02 on sale today for a penny.:lmao:
