My lens is the Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 DL Macro. It doesn't have very high marks - seems to be considered an 'average' lens at best. That makes me wonder if I should even bother.
Hi Kelly,
I believe the Macro is 1:2 (200-300mm). I really haven't used this lens for over 5 years -- it's just been sitting in the camera case with my film Rebel. I haven't used the Macro feature at all.
As you can see, I am not even sure if I like the lens!

since mine was the cheapo kit lens that came with my film rebel
i was wondering the same thing ( so i readily bite at a $700 camera but choke at spending $14 to get the lens fixed... what's wrong with that picture ) but i'm glad i did as it works well eonugh that i can use it for a while and if i get the 18-125 it has the macro the new one won't ...only problem is now i am wondering about what other lens to get since the 18-125 if so close to what i have except the wide end( as the camera shop guy said yesterday, "can't you just walk a few steps closer to get the 125 shot" i replied "no! want to make something of it?" and decked him...not really)...i wish the 18-200 was better, that would be perfect for me if it was ...
so basically i want a totally sharp 18-200 mm f1.8-5.6 canon for $99 oh and it needs to weigh 8 oz or less

Well, if you don't even like taking macro shots, or not even liking the lens, might as well re-chip it and sell it on eBay. The main selling point that "the lens have just been re-chipped Sigma for compatibility with Canon dSLR"
