DH thinks I am going overboard on the kids

My kids (DD5 and DS2) really enjoyed watching their names being sewn on their mouse ears. Also, if this is your first family trip, you may be surprised at how huge the characters sign their autographs. I was originally planning to take a small scrapbook but changed my mind when I realized what a pain it would be to lug around. I ended up taking a book of spiral-bound index cards and the autographs (including the stamped ones) usually took up the entire card. Many of the characters had a very hard time seeing to sign. I remember Pluto had to balance the book on his snout while he held it ridiculously close to his eye to sign. Just something to consider...

My kids loved collecting pressed pennies and DD5 loved making the Epcot mask (DS slept through most of World Showcase.) We didn't have the Passports, but they took FOREVER for the CMs to fill out. I personally won't bother with them until my kids are much older and can really get into them.

We did Tinker Bell gifts every night and the kids absolutely loved them. DH thought I was NUTS for lugging all that stuff along, but he changed his mind when he realized how much DD actually believed in Tink and how excited she was to wake up to her gift. In fact, HE is insisting we go back to WDW next year (very unusual) because he wants to go one more time while she still believes in the magic!

We are going in Dec and taking 6 kids. Even thought everyone is excited my 12 yo DD is the most. She has a b-day in Nov and have already thought about getting her some disney things to take with her. BTW this is our first time ever so I really don't know alot about DW other than what I have read on the boards. Anyway, dh thinks that I am going overboard also when I think I am just letting her be excited! So, even though I plan on getting everyone something while AT DW because I want them to have what they want do you think it is "overboard" to share in the excitement a little more with the one who seems to be the most excited?????

First off....your girls are beautiful. :flower:

I think everything you are doing is great. It will make for a magical time.

I would wait on the lanyards/pins. Check them out when you get there. With having the autograph books and doing the pressed pennies(tons of fun), there may not be much time for pin trading. Also, you have to keep close eye on the lanyards and pins. My boys didn't start pin trading until they were 9-11yrs old. They have lost a few pins on some wild rides.

Hold off of the Epcot passport also. There is the KidCot stations in Epcot where the kids get the make masks and collect add-ons at the various countries. It is super fun and free.

Have a great trip.

...my daughter has used the same autograph book (the little blue one) from Disneyland for 3 years. We used it at WDW too, is that not the norm? I noticed a couple posts that purchased new books each trip.

She just wants to fill it up with every character she meets, she even has a couple doubles :rotfl:

to the OP I don't think you are going overboard, sounds like you are giving them multiple opportunities to enjoy the park in new ways and have some great souvenirs.

I bought my daughter some t-shirts from the Disney Store before our trip and we did do the Passport at Epcot. My daughter is collecting charms for her bracelet she started when she turned 3 and wears it on every trip to the parks and picks up a new charm on every visit, she picked up quite a few as we were in WDW 7 days! She loves that bracelet and wears it all the time.

On my last trip to WDW I saw a family with 4 or 5 kids and they had just one autograph book for the family. I wish I had thought of that for my first trip with the kids. Just 1 book would be so much easier to deal with and save a lot of time for that characters too. I don't think my kids would go for it now since they are used to each having their own.

I do buy the kids new PJ's and Disney toothbrushes.

Have you all seen the T-shirt thread over on the craft board? I made the kids new T's and they love them.
