I say do both!

Make some sacrifices during the next 12 months, save up and do both. The way the price of gas/oil has dropped, that is having an immediate impact on everyone I know. Its hard to say where you will be financially a year from now. Look back 12 months ago....did you see the mess we have now?

Personally, I think HHI is a little slow for teenage boys. Now if it was Myrtle Beach, I would say go for that. I am a lot biased and absolutely love Disney at Christmas time.

We're from Des Moines and I love going to the cities, too.

OP, I would choose HHI and then keep working on my budget for a shorter trip to WDW. Good luck on your planning.

This to me is really a no brainer!!! PICK HH! If you go to HH in June, (if your anything like my wife) by December I would be ready to cave and she would get both. Always go with the earlier trip, cause you could convince him of the other later!

This cracks me up!!! You are so right though. My dh always gives in to me when it comes to my disney trips. He is an avid hunter so it's a trade off.

I talked to my kids and they definately all want to go to Hilton Head! I told them that might mean that we don't go to disney for a year or more and they said NO PROBLEM!!! What's wrong with these kids??? That is not OK with me! I have to go to disney to LIVE............haha! I'll just leave their little butts at home and take a girlfriend I guess (that will save some money)

We'll be at HHI third week in June! It will be our third summer in a row there and we all just love it!!!! If you are looking to save money, HHI is a good way to go. We don't spend nearly as much as we do in Disney! It is also more laid back and we do more in-room meals which saves money. Now there are lots of fun things to try - kayaking, boating, golf, tennis, crafts etc, but they never come out as much as we spend at WDW.

And who knows maybe things will improve and you'll be going to WDW in Dec. '09 too!!!
