DH old friend died yesterday

Dh had a friend from high school that unfortunately took the wrong road in life. In high school started hanging out with his cousin, who was known to be a big drug dealer, big time drugs like cocaine & heroin. DH tried to continue to be friends with him & show him that there is another side, ya know - get a job, a house, etc. He gave him a job on several occassions to help him get on his feet. This guy was not just some low-life, he was VERY smart, got accepted into law school after high school, etc - he could have made somethingout of himself. We found out last night that he died @ his drug dealer cousins house. We don't know any details, yet, but I feel certain that it was from a drug overdose - probably heroin. I hope that they will investigate this guy, this is the 2nd person that has died in about 10 years after having spent time at this drug dealers house. I would think if his body was found there, then there will be an investigation. Just please keep his family in your thoughts & prayers, his poor mother has had to deal with all of his drug problems for a long time & has spent most of the money (they once had money) she had to try & help him (his dad died several years ago, so she had to deal with this alone & with her daughters help). She has called paramedics before, he was blue & had no pulse in her bathroom once. No mother should have to go through this nor should any mother ever have to bury their child - no matter what the age. Dh friend was 38 & although we knew he would never live to be an old man, it's still very sad to see what a waste it all was. He leaves behind a 7-8 year old little boy, he & the mother never married & she still smokes pot. I hope that this will open her eyes & realize that she needs to "step up to the plate" & straighten her life out for that little boy or he will probably end up on that same road. If you read all of this, thanks, I'm asking for prayers for his mother & venting @ the same time, I just don't see how people can get that "far gone".

I heard something somewhat similar just two days ago about a guy in my grade school and high school classes. Apparently, he had a major drinking problem. Seem to remember that from years ago running into him some place. His wife had finally gotten tired of it and threw him out. He had one child. Unfortunately, he took his own life about a year ago. He always seemed to struggle with many things. Nice guy, just had a hard time with things and his family life growing up as a kid.

So sorry to hear about your DH friend. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers. I do hope there is an investigation into his death.

I hope the mother does open her eyes and decides to "straighten" out. It would be ashame for the young boy to go down the same path when it can be prevented.
