DH just doesn't understand!

My DH does very little park time on our WDW vacations. We are DVC members and usually have an AP so he can come and go at his leisure. We kid that if there was a by the hour ticket it would be perfect for him. The AP allows him to go into the parks without feeling like he's losing a day and he'll join us for part of the day sometimes. It is rare that he spends more than a couple of hours in a park.

I'd just plan to do early mornings without your DH and let him meet you when he arrives, he might miss somethings but if you all wait for him to be ready to go you'll all miss out.

Exactly! I don't have kids, but DH is the same way. We just went on a long weekend with friends. DH slept in while we conquered the parks, lol.

He joined us when he felt like it. Even my friend's DH did this, and neither of them had been to WDW before. But, it is a vacation, and if the point is to relax and enjoy, then forced park outings may not be the way to accomplish that.

I've learned to leave my DH at home! :rotfl: The 2 of us went to WDW over a year ago sans children and had a great time. It was strange for me, though, because we went at my DH's pace. We got to the park around opening, but only stayed for a few hours before going to the room to take a nap and then returning to a park for a little while in the evening. I had an AP and was planning 2 more trips in the few months after that trip, so I was easy going about what we saw and did. The next time we take a family trip I think I'll suggest to my later rising family members that they sleep in and meet me at the parks later. I like that idea. It might mean that I'm going all alone or with only one of my kids, though.

We definitely take things slowly when we go to WDW. We start by taking a 2 week vacation. We sleep in everyday (afterall, that is what a vacation is all about.). We wake up and say "which park". Then, we go to that park and take our time and when we see an attraction we want to do, we do it. After 2 weeks, we feel we have done enough to satisfy ourselves. Of course, even after 3 of these vacations, there are things we purposely have not done to make the next vacation seem "new". One year we took a day and collected pressed pennies from as many of the resorts as we had time for. When we return from our vacation, we are well rested. It's all about slow pace.

my dh was the same way the first time. commando is not his type of vacation. of course, now he is right there in the thick of it, going and going till we all drop. :yay:
