Talk about surprises! My DH's semi-estranged son called the other day to tell him he's a grandfather! 
We didn't even know his girlfriend was expecting, so this was quite a shock. But long story short, we went up and visited the baby girl last night. She's beautiful and healthy.
This may mark a new beginning for DH and his son.
I hope so anyway.
