My DH and I are going on the wonder 3 day cruise in November. He is a bagpiper and doesn't leave home without his pipes. He was asking me if he could practice on the ship. I told him if he does the other guests will probably throw him overboard. :p God forbid if he had to go a few days with no practice time.

He also asked me if he could wear his kilt to palo.....he likes to wear it whenever he can (what a show off). He has a vest and tie that he wears with it but no jacket. would this be acceptable?

And one last question.......is the wine tasting available on the 3 day cruise?

Thanks

YES, he can wear his kilt to Palo! :) I saw a family on formal night one December on the Magic with all the men and boys in kilts...they looked amazing! :)

My uncle was a bagpiper so I understand. ;)

And I do think the wine tasting is offered on the 3-night cruises but I'm not positive.

Enjoy!

Yes, the wine tasting is offered on the 3-day cruises.
I think wearing a kilt is a neat idea. On our Eastern cruise, when Disney artist Don Williams was on board, he wore his kilt on the formal nights. It was very cool!

A bagpiper would be welcome at my table anyday!

BRAVO to him in all areas - but may I ask "THE" question...
"What do they wear under those kilts?"

Rae

They looked so cool, Dad and two young sons in kilts with like tuxedo jackets on, formal night, mom and daughter matching dresses it was beautiful. DS asked me if they were from Scotland (like they check in with me when they board?!)
By all means he can wear the kilt, I don't know about praticing his bagpipes, how loud to they get?

You know I'd be up wind on the deck if I ever see one...hey, seeing is believing!

Getting "spicy" in my old age!

I'd like for him to think about doing the Talent Show on Friday night - I bet the audience would just love hearing some real bagpipe music!!!!!!

There was a young girl who brought her guitar on ship and played on the decks. Why not?! Music is music!

I don't know, maybe we should have a poll: Which would you rather have on the verandah next door? A Bagpiper or a smoker?

Sorry, just kidding! I love the kilt idea! I want to see this!

I think you would have to contact DCL about practicing. Maybe if he promised to play in the talent show . . .?

We also saw Don "Ducky" Williams and his friend wearing kilts. I had my picture taken with them.:D

There was a gentlemen on last week's cruise who wore a kilt. They've always had a jacket as part of their ensembles, but a vest and tie should be fine.

Good luck getting the Palo's. :D

He will be the best dressed man aboard!! The ship is so big I am sure he will be able to find somewhere to practice, he may even find an appreciative audience. If I were there I would cheer him on.

Last Christmas Day while waiting to board the bus at WL, a man was practicing bagpipes. We just stopped and watched and listened, it was amazing.

I belive that bagpipe are still classified as weapons of war (just not weapons of mass destruction - some might disagree:) ).

I do enjoy listening to them though.

As far a practicing, Deck 7 Aft (secret veranda) sometime in the middle of the day would probably be the best time to practice. Hopefully the rooms on either side won't mind.

Good Luck.

Well thanks for all the replies.......he will be so happy....he usually plays at the beach when we go and he always has a huge audience on all the balconies. It is really neat.

Rae: The talent show is a great idea! and as far as the question about what he wears under the kilt...........Socks and Shoes:p He gets that question alot

Anyone that likes celtic music check out his bands website.....They are awesome! He's the long haired dude!

I guess I am in the minority. I think it would be unreasonable to play bagpipes (or any other loud instrument) on board the ship except in the entertainment areas themselves and would be offensive to other guests. However, I suppose deck 10 would not be unreasonable. Having been on deck 7 near the aft deck, I would have a fit if someone started playing bagpipes out there.

Thanks for the link - his music is great!! I would love to hear him play live.
Last night during the blackout, after my son finished playing drums (in the dark basement) one of my neighbors started playing the trumpet. It was wonderful!

I want to sail with you and your husband!! :) I went to high school at St. Thomas Episcopal in Houston, and they have a world-famous Pipe and Drum Corps. I miss hearing that every day!! Hey, I took Highland Dancing for years there... I can come dance while your husband plays. LOL!! ;)

I, too had to check out that website! Thanks for the link...love Irish music.

He is quite cute in that kilt!!

He also asked me if he could wear his kilt to palo.....he likes to wear it whenever he can (what a show off).

Aye - and if he's wearin' the Cameron plaid - t'would be even better, but any man in his kilt is a fair sight for the eyes. :-)

I just checked out the website - LOVE it! He can play on the balcony next to my family any day. My DH and I met in a corp - I'm sure we'd find something to drum along with.

And, if you want ALL the relations - the Irish and the Scottish, well goodness, how long do we have? That would take a good beer and a long talk! :-)

PS - edited due to leaving out my dh's side of the family. Can't do that!
