We will be going from 2 to 3. My TA has told me my ADR's are not available for 3 in Sept. Do we just try to show up at the podium? Do I keep trying to change to 3 people? Help pleas...not flames, I've not done anything:)

Definitely call the dining line - 3 people cannot fit where you'd be seated for 2. If reservations aren't open for 3, keep calling back. Sorry - not much you can do. Don't just show up at the podium - I don't think that'd work at all.

Call and try to add him on if they say no I would just show up with him. They won't turn u down. I doubt it.

Eeek. I think I'd keep trying for a party of 3 for times that would work, if nothing comes through then I'd show up a little early with the extra person and plead your case ;)

I just got off the phone and was able to change 3 of my ADR's for three people. I will keep trying, as we will be going 9/10-9/17, and do have a little time. If they can't get him into everything, I probably will beg at the podium, aftr all, DD is 4, and can sit in a high chair pulled up to the table. My big hope is that a couple of times when I went in January, they sat us at a 4 top when it was just the 2 of us, and a ressie only for 2. They did this at Princess Storybook, Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree Tavern.:confused3

Last year we called to change our ADRs from 8 to six. They were not able to change all of them and told us to just show up. I know it is different changing down but I just thought it was strange that they couldn't just change the reservation to six but they had to rebook those that the could.
This year we had to change from 5 to seven and we have had success changing all but one of them. The one being CRT.

They may if it is free dining.Saw it happen many times...it depends on the restaurant and how busy they are. They may let you wait, or they may tell you NO.

It's amazing to me since Disney has done the Dining Plan how hard it is to get ADR's unless you do book the 180 days out. Do they even allow for walk ups anymore? It's hurt the "magic" of choosing to eat when you are hungry that is for sure! I don't stress about dining anywhere else on vacation except for Disney.

Unfortunately ,they do not hold back any tables for walk ups at all.If you happen to get in on a walk up, it is generally due to someone's no show or cancellation. It does happen , but during free dining I have seen more people turned away then not.I have also never seen so many grown adults throwing tantrums because of it.

Well no meal is worth a temper tantrum. However I can imagine plenty of upset people. Of course the restaurants I'm trying to get into are character meals, os I wonder if that is my major block right now. I've gotten 4 increased, so so far, so good:) Now I've got 5 more to try.

OK, so does it make more sense to book for more people and then show up with fewer? DH hasn't decided if he's joining us, nor has d's friend. I'm thinking of booking for 4 just in case. (We're not going during free dining.)

Thoughts?

I would definately book for 4. You can always cx and change to fewer with no problems ( that is what the CM told me who was on the phone with me last night) However adding on might be challenging, like it is for me right now.

I booked my December ADRs for four instead of three because we are not sure if DD is bringing a friend or not. For August, I booked everything for 3 and then we added a friend for DD. When I called to try to change the ADRs the CM told me no changes needed - going from 3 to 4 is not a problem because that is how the tables are set up. We are hoping that is indeed the case and plan to just show up. If we are turned away, no tantrums from us - we aren't doing free dining because we are DVC so we'll just grab a burger or something at a counter service. Its the first week of free dining during our August trip so I am not expecting anything to be available for walk ups - there wasn't last year during that week.

Keep your ressies, let the hubby eat a burger outside and wait for you!!
