DH stopped at a convenience store on the way home from work to pick up a few things. In his change, he got an old buffalo nickel. I'm sure that it's not worth much but it still made his day! We can't find a date anywhere on it so I don't know if it wore off or if they were even dated.

It might be an fake, so don't get too excited. My BIL is a coin collector and alot of the times ones passed around like this are fake. Here is a site that you can look it up.

Coin Values for Buffalo Nickels are given in the table below. All Buffalo Nickels (also called Indian Head Nickels) that have a readable date are worth at least seven times their face value (thirty-five cents) unless they are badly damaged or almost totally worn out. Buffalo Nickels without dates are generally not collectible unless they clearly display a rare variety type, such as the "three-legged buffalo," but even then their value is greatly reduced. Some Buffalo Nickels, called key dates, are worth hundreds, even thousands of times their face value! Find out how much your Buffalo Nickels are worth in this value table. Keep in mind that these are guidelines. To get today's current market prices, you should contact a coin dealer.
