We stayed onsite at the POP this past April and I loved it!!! I am an on-site kinda gal!! Next year because DD15 will be going, we have to get two connecting rooms at the POP or a family suite at ASMU. It will run $1000+ for the week. DH knows we can get a much more spacious timeshare for a lot less. He says what's the big deal with onsite, we will have our car (don't pay for parking because I have an AP), we only used EMH once and since we drive we don't use ME, and we only went back to nap once! I wanna win this battle but I don't know except to say.......but it's DISNEY!!!! Anyone have to convince their DH of something DIsney related? I do home parties and I told him I can pay the extra money with just 1 party, he said you already said that you can buy everybody's AP with just 4 parties. With those 5 parties you can pay for the car insurance for the year. I will resort to pouting and withholding good luvin' if I have to!!! :rotfl:

we have the opposite problem, we are staying at POP this year for the free dining, and I am 2nd guessing myself wondering if I will be unhappy because we LOVE off-site so much!! We have stayed several times off-site and I love the extra room for a lot less money!!

Sorry I have no advise other than to say we love off-site!

have you considered renting dvc points from a member and staying at one of the disney timeshares-you might end up with a great deal for around the same as staying offsite. you can do a 1 bedroom and end up with a better set up. you'de have the master bedroom along with the living room that has the hide-a-bed sofa (so basicly 2 private rooms). you would save MORE money because you'de have the full kitchen (we save loads by making one grocery stop for breakfast, snacks and drinks alone) and you could pack less because you'de have the full size washer/dryer in the room.

you have the advantage of being able to pool hop to most of the best pools the park has to offer, there are special activities offered only to/at the dvc timeshares, and (and this is a biggie for us) depending on where you stay-you may find reason to relax and enjoy the room. example-our most recent dvc stay was at ssr, we had a one bedroom non-preferred view, well we preferred it-it looked over onto pleasure island such that we could sit on the deck each night and watch the "happy new year" fireworks! it was great after a long day of park hopping to jump in the rental car (we just prefer it over disney transportation) and do a quick drive back to "our home away from home", but knowing if we got a mad craving for something to eat from down town disney-it was just a few minutes away.

you might have him take a look on the disney website and see what the dvc rooms are like, then have him look at how much the rack rate is and compare it to the current going rate for renting points (and it can differ widely how many points are needed depending on if you want to go to a more popular destination over some of the tried and true).

the other thing to remind him of-is most of the orlando area timeshares that offer "great" rates for non members require a several hour time share presentation committment that usualy ends up schedualed in the middle of the day (and ruins that day for much time at the parks)-if you opt out of attending they hit your credit card for their full rack rate (so the room that ran $50 per night, may end up being $300 per night :furious: ).

i a big believer (even before becoming a dvc member) of staying on-site, in fact when we go in a year or 2 at least one full week will be devoted to universal and other destinations, but we will still stay on-site at wdw-we can't beat the quality and service.

It is in my pre-numpt agreement that we stay on site!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Just joking but DH and I both think on-site is the only way! JMO!

We are in a similar situation. We have 4 dd's. On our last trip we stayed offsite at a lovely 2 br, 2 bth, condo. We saved a TON!!!!!!!! It was a very nice place, very close to DTD. Our drive times to the park were very short and we had a great time..... That being said; our next trip planned for Dec. we will be getting 2 rooms at ASMo. I know we are paying more and the accomodations won't be as nice, but we will be on prop.

We saved a bunch of $ but we REALLY missed the magic. Would I stay offsite again to save a buck to go to WDW again? ABSOLUTELY!

You could always look into staying at POR riverside, I think they sleep 5 :goodvibes .

Hi all,
It's the flip side in my world, i Am the dh and will stay no where but on-site also i try to talk dw into going as often as possible.

if you didn't use EMH nor DME...

I hate to say it but I kinda agree with your husband.

Disney is great and I do love it.

but sometimes saving money is very important - especially if you want to KEPT going to WDW.

so let him win this time.... just kept up with car costs - gasoline, wear and tear on the car - and next time he wants to stay offsite insist that these costs be added....

No problem. You and the little ones stay at POP or maybe the POLY and let him stay happily at the Comfort Inn on I-4!

Okay, next issue?

Okay. You HAVE to stay on site. It's the only way to go! Withold the luvin or better yet, ask him if you can stay on site DURING the luvin. Works for me every time! ;)
