They look pretty darn impressive as well!!

I canceled my previous camera order the other night ( didnt feel comfortable with ordering online, just didnt trust the merchant.) and it turns out...maybe was the right move.

My husband is excited about the announcement , he was commited to the H5..but...now, will wait till april to see these monsters in action! He can "live" with the old cam till then ;) For a price of the 400 range...just amazing.

PS. found a point and shoot that best buy has on sale
Lumix - LZ5 - for 160. I am steering towards that for a low range - point and shoot for my daughter..and maybe one for me as well. We'll be going to the store to look and buy tonight :) I dont expect the LZ% to be anthing near the cannon or the H5, but that is not thier purpose, for our stunning photos..we will depend on the sony. For fun of being together taking pics..I think the LZ5 will do nicely...esp at that price.

Thank you for the link. It is looking like over 12x zoom is the new norm. It will be interesting how well a p&s sensor can handle that much range. I am glad to see that they started out a little wider (31mm) than most p&s cameras (36-38mm). That means that the tele end will be about the same as the old 12x models, but I like the move. The ability to go wide was one of the things that led me to a DSLR. One thing I notice that I do not like is that the widest aperture has now shrunk at the tele end to f/4.5 vs the f/3.7 of the H5. That is probably the sacrifice that had to be made to get past 12x. I expect the Canon S4(or whatever they end up calling it) will also have this smaller max aperture as well. Now that these Sony's are out, I bet we will be seeing a Canon S4 announcement soon.

If you still want to give online ordering a shot, take a look at B&H, Adorama, Buydig, and Beach Camera. They are all highly respected and most have had very good experiences with them. It can really save you a lot of money over a BB, CC, or WM.
