I have a friend that is going to WDW for the first time next June. She is pretty much prepared to book everything and we have already made her Hotel (Dolphin, until the codes come out) and Park Passes (World Pass).
(I "rescued" her from a package)
We are now looking at air out of DFW and AA has a fare of $235 each for N/S that is pretty open right now. The schedule looks good for her dates and she has a full range of times.

Is this a good fare or should she wait? She really wants N/S. I purchased my RT air for next month for $163 but it stops.

I havent seen many discounts out of DFW lately but don't want to be kicking ourselves later if they have a fare war.

I've been checking airfare from DFW to MCO since the first of the year and that $235.00 is what it's been with the exception of maybe one day where it was reduced and only lasted several hours.

You can get cheaper if you are willing to stop and maybe not have great flight times. The non-stop Delta & American have been pretty high lately. I'm going in Nov and recently purchased at $228 but got the flight times I wanted and since it was around Thanksgiving it was the best I saw after checking on fares several times daily.

Since you have the time probably wouldn't hurt to wait, you might get a better fare and if you are willing to not have a non-stop maybe much better. The best non-stops lately have been about $200 but usually limited to certain days.

I have been searching airfare for Dallas to Orlando for several months now, and I agree the $ 253.50 fare including taxes has been the norm for Delta and American flights. Yesterday American dropped down to $ 241 including taxes but now it is back to that dreaded $ 253.50 price... Airtran is currently having a sale which I I can get connecting flights out of Atlanta for $ 226. These rates irritate me when my relatives from NY are getting $ 118 roundtrip fares to Orlando. I have been checking Hotwire for my September trip dates, and they seem to be averaging around $ 198 - $ 207 including taxes. I think I am going to set aside one whole day for travel, cross my fingers, and go with hotwire UNLESS airfares out of Dallas go down SOON....
Good luck with the hunt !!

Yesterday (7/24/03) I did one last check of all the fares, because my friend really wanted to book her Air so she could get it out of the way and start planning "the fun stuff".
I checked all the sites and then went through the Ebates Expedia link and AA came up with $216.50 each including tax and Expedia Fee! This was nonstop and the entire schedule was available she even picked her seats. She was so thrilled to be doing all of this herself (with me over her shoulder ) !
Total came to $866 for the 4 of them.
I know it's not the greatest but she was extremely happy about it!
Her and Dh are taking her grandson and niece and really wanted nonstop.
So mission accomplished!
We also booked her Town Car (FL Tours) so she is basically set.
Thanks for the insite on the DFW Fares, and Good luck!
I'll keep checking too for our trip next June.

COLT:
I spotted that United Fare you found last month and jumped on it!
It does stop in CLT but to people who are used to driving, a 5 hour flt time seemed reasonable.
I was checking Hotwire also, but we really wanted to arrive early on Saturday and needed to work on Friday, so we didnt have an entire day to travel. I figured the savings wasnt there to justify a funky flt. time. Hotwire was only coming up about $15 less. DFW really has us over a barrel when it comes to reasonable fares compared to other cities.

LIFERBABE:

Thanks for the info on expedia.... While I was searching I just found the non-stop flights on Boeing 757's from American for $ 221. Also, Delta just matched that price for non-stops.

Expedia is showing a flight that connects in and out of Charlotte for $ 182, and Howire's price is now down to $ 178 !!!

I didn't grab that rate you talked about last month due to several reasons, but these fares are pretty good...

You are definitely a good luck charm !!

Think I should wait it out even longer, or am I pushing my " luck " ??

SORRY for misspelling, it was an honest mistake, I didnot mean to do it ! I am just SO excited to FINALLY find some decent airfare...

CHEAPTICKETS.COM IS SHOWING $ 157 FOR DFW TO ORLANDO WITH ONE CONNECTION FOR MID SEPT FLIGHTS... GREAT RATE BUT MY TRAVELING PARTNER DIDN'T LIKE THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT GETTING FROM DALLAS TO ORLANDO ( PICKY PICKY ).
OH WELL, I GUESS THE QUEST CONTINUES...

No Problem Colt! I didnt even notice. That's great that the fares are coming down. I think the $150's is the best we're gonna get out of DFW even in the best of times.
I understand about wanting a NS. Im just hoping our flt does not feeel as long as it is.
Good Luck and I'll keep checking too and post back if I find anything.
We should start a Support Group for all the poor North Texans adversley affected by the Wright Amendment.

United Airlines is now showing $ 157.50 taxes included with a connection in Charlotte, and Hotwire's price is now $ 157 for mid September. I am still crossing my fingers that the non-stop Delta and American flights will come down even lower than their present $ 221.50 price.

Just tried to call United aT 1-800-864-8331, no one available due to high call colume. If you book your travel online, they will give you an additional 5% discount off AND it appears an additional 1000 bonus miles...

Not too good at inserting hyperlinks, just in case, the web site is www.united.com/apology

After that 5% discount, I am looking at about $ 150 including taxes to go to Orlando with a connection in Charlotte. NOW I am REALLY ready to grab some airfare...

Hope this info helps !!!

Thanks Colt. I checked the link and the fare is posting 237.00 for my dates on the UAL site. Travelocity is showing the 157.00 fare though. The 157.00 is pretty HOT! considering it's $126.00 before tax/fees.

I just posted this on the Transportation Bd....

United (thru Charlotte or Pitt) $123 before taxes; $142 after.
Dates all the way into next June.

Have fun!

WOW !! I about fainted when I saw that fare, it is for mid September with a connection in Charlotte. I am SOOOO HAPPY that the fares have come down so much... Guess that means we all will have a little extra to give Mickey and the gang !

I put in our dates for next June 2004 and the total came to $530 for all four of us!! I almost cried!

I didnt book it though, as I want to see how our first flying trip goes next month to see if we like it, as we are used to driving. Im not ready to give up all my "stuff" that I take with us and this trip I am already having logistical nightmares about leaving it all behind.

Thanks for the updates!

Last night, Travelocity and United both had fares from DFW to MCO through Charlotte for $113.00/RT, now they are back up to almost $300.00 AGAIN and I'm so mad, had to wait until tax check went in bank last night and now there is NO LOW airfare, doesn't look good right now!!

I realize you are irritated right now, but keep prowling for those low rates. My fare was around $ 253 for several months, then all of a sudden United started that sale, and I finally bought tickets at a fantastic price. What intrigued me is that while United fares dropped from $ 253 to $ 127 for my travel dates, other airlines barely reduced theirs... so much for a airfare war. Have you checked Hotwire or Priceline lately ?? I wish you the best of luck, and just remember that when you are standing on Main Street and looking at Cinderella's castle, you will definitely know all of this aggravation was worth it ...

I'm continually looking everywhere I can think of for lower airfare. Last year this time I got R/T on Delta for $137.00 so I'm hoping they reduce their fares since they haven't in awhile.

Anyone use Priceline for Airfare? Would appreciate your comments. I understand that you have to be open to any timeslot and airline which is OK by me, I'll just add on an extra day for travel each way.

The best fare I have ever gotten was PRE-9/11 at $112.50 pp RT NS on Delta. Of course we did fly in October after 9/11 and that was a bit nervewracking.
I am on the hunt for good airfare as well. I waited wait a tiny bit too late and missed the $131.00 United airfare.
I am so bitter that there is such a big disparity in the airfares. If the fares were around $170.00 NS RT I would probably go for it but over $200.00 is too much. In the past 4 trips we have never paid over $170.00 NS RT.
Oh well I'll keep my eye open in the future.

I missed those United fares by "hours" I'm still mad because I checked those flights and they are not full by any means, oh well, need some pixie dust!!!
