DFTW dining plan option?

Hello there everyone,

Quick Question, my FDSIL tried booking her room through the DFTW phone number and was told that you cannot add on the dining plan to a reservation becasue you are already getting a discounted rate?? Is this true?? Does anyone have any insight into this?

I could be wrong here but as far as I know you can get the dining plan. When I was booking my planning session the reservations agent was encouraging me to book my wedding accom & dining plan for April. He said that there was a special offer on at the time (which we got for our Nov trip) and said that we could get our free basic dining plan for our wedding and then upgrade to the platinum package to take advantage. I'm sure if there was an issue we wouldn't have been told this.

That sounds right to me Sam. The dining plan is only available if you are paying 'rack rate' for a room. That's why I've never found it to be a very good deal. All those people on free dining right now are paying way more for a room than what they are 'saving' for the meal plan. Maybe if they offer some new deal for February they can tweak it, but using the room block discount doesn't qualify you for the meal plan. My family wont be able to get it either because they are booking with my cast rate.

I was also told the same thing. When booking through your room block, it is a room-only booking through group discounts. I was told that they are unable to book packages at this time.

Your best bet would be to go ahead and book a package with the dining plan through WDW (NOT through your room block). If a better discount comes out for next year (like free dining plan) they can change their booking at that time.
