Developer Points

When we signed our contract for DVC on June 14th we were told we would get 200 Developer Points that had be used within one year. So we book a resort in Branson Mo. for 144 points leaving us 56. So we made reservations for AKV for June 1st to the 7th and wanted to use the 56 points left as part of our points for that vacation. But they are telling me we can't use those points they have to be used before June 09. So that's like 11 1/2 months not a year. . Does anybody know how this really works?

I may be wrong, but I thought the developer points had to be used at SSR.

We were told they could be used anywhere regular points could be used at and we were able to use them on the Branson Resort that we book with Interval International.

When I bought at the begining of June I was told that I could only use the developer points at SSR or Interval International. It was also written in my contract that way.

I will have to look at my contract, but that's not what they told me. When I book my AKV(my home resort) they told me they would use the Developer points for that. But when I checked my points on line, it was wrong. That's when they told me I could not us them because I had to use them before June 09 and my dates are for June 1st to 7th. I got developer points for my AKL-Kidani Village purchase in June. I was told they had to be used at SSR. However, the contract states that they can be used on SSR, Disneyland Resort or Interval International bookings. You can use other points in conjunction with these developer points must they must be at one of those places.

You should check your contract. I do not believe the developer points are available to use at AKV at all (at least mine don't) no matter what. You have 12 months from your contract date to use the developer points (in fact it gives the specific date in the contract-see Vacation Option Agreement, section (d) on mine). If you were told otherwise, you need to reaffirm your contract terms with MS.

Maybe I did misunderstand about where I could use the the points(i guess), so now I have to find a short stay on interval International now. Darn 3 vacation in less than 11 months.

We purchased in March of this year and we received 160 developer points, we used them, and 5 additional regular points from this use year for this trip that I'm on right now at the AKLV. I will be banking my additional 160 points for this use year before the end of July. One caveat might be that the contracts are being written differently now? I have no idea, but we did use our developer points at AKLV, there were no restrictions except that they couldn't be banked, and they had to be used within the year or lost.
