Developer Points?

We just received our new member packet in the mail yesterday so now we can book our first vacation!

However, I think we are in trouble from what I'm reading AKV our home resort is booked through 2008 and we wanted to travel 11/22 to 11/29. If we are able to get a res. with our points now, at seven months out can we switch it to use our 100 developer points? Or are we stuck with using our reg. points?

I thought I understood all this but these developer points have me confused.

I think you're asking if you can make a Nov ressie with your regular pts now and then at the 7mth mark switch the points to your dev pts???

If that's what you're asking, sorry you won't be able to do that. You can't use "7 month points" in a ressie that was made during the 11 month window.

I believe that is a busy time . . . . I would try to book an 11-month Home resort reservation at AKV now using regular points in your account. . . . and see what is available at 7 months and switch if possible. But you cannot book something at the 11-month advantage and then use 7-month points later. Also, don't know if you are open to it but at 7 months you might be able to book at another DVC resort with the Developer Points--maybe not the first trip "home" you were anticipating but you want to use those Developer Points before you lose them!

We have the same issue, and are going the exact same week! The developers points can't be booked til 7 mos. I asked what you did, and they said they can't just switch. So, we're taking our chances at 7 mos to see what is available. The CM did say that Saratoga Springs and Key West most likely would have availability, even at 7 mos, so if you don't have a resort preference, that may work.

Yes-I believe the only thing you have to worry about is when your use year ends and what you plan to do with the cancelled regular points? If you plan to bank them into the next use year then you can't be in the last four months of your use year.

Yep, sounds like a plan as long as you'll be able to still use your regular pts or bank them.
