OK, so I'm sitting at work last Monday feeling like I need a mental health day, but the work covering my desk is telling me loud and clear, "Don't even think about it." Funny how the work on my desk speaks in my boss' voice. Anyway, since I can't take a day off from work but I have an AP burning a hole in my wallet, I decide that I'll wait for Saturday and head over to see my favorite mouse. My plan is to kidnap my two young cousins (the Lilli and Izzi from my signature...the other two are my niece and nephew in VA), but Lilli had a basketball game, and it's Girl Scout cookie time and they're running a cookie booth at Wal-Mart. Well, dangit!

What's a girl to do? Be brave! Be a liberated female! Go to the Magic Kingdom ALONE! And so I did. I set off for the House of Mouse on Saturday morning about 8 a.m. and arrived at the TTC around 9:30...the traffic and construction on 192 is murder. The express monorail line was looooong, so I hopped the resort monorail and snagged a seat by the window. At the Poly, a family got in "my" car, and we exchanged smiles. Allison, age 5, proudly announced that it was her birthday and she was very happy to be on the pink monorail. I confided that I'm partial to pink myself, and we became fast friends. Since it was her birthday, I slid over and let her sit by the window. I'm a sucker for cute kids...besides, it was the Disney thing to do. pixiedust:

Hmmm...now would be a good time for me to admit that when I step through the gate into the MK, I become about 7 years old. My eyes get all wide with amazement...I have to restrain myself from running up to Tigger and bouncing with him, but a grown woman just doesn't DO that. Drats. Anyway, I'm grinning like a fool because there's Chip and Dale, Pluto, the Mickster, Pooh, Tigger and Goofy. I can see The Castle looming all white and blue and beautiful at the end of Main Street, and all the sudden I wish I had someone whose arm I can grab and squeeze and say, "There's Mickey!!" to. OK, girl, shake it off...you can do this.

Little girls dressed up like princesses are everywhere, and I couldn't help but smile. Thanks, kids!

I headed over to HM and walked on. (I didn't wait more than 10 minutes for anything all day.) It's such a great ride, and I amused myself by trying to find Hidden Mickeys. I suck at finding Hidden Mickeys, but it's fun; and I figure if I can find just one I can tell the short people and threaten to never reveal where it is (insert evil laugh here). I didn't find any. Drats, foiled again! Oh, and you know that hitchiking ghost at the end of the ride? He got a little fresh with me...practically sat on my lap!

The very best thing about having an AP is that there's no pressure to do everything in one day...if I want to ride one or two rides and nuttin' else, it's cool. After all, I can come back ANY TIME I WANT. (My AP was a birthday gift...the BEST birthday gift I got last year!) That being sad, I spent some time just wandering around, enjoying the weather, the smells, the feeling, the MAGIC of the Magic Kingdom. Throughout the day, I did Philharmagic, POTC, the Teacups, the Carousel and BTMRR. I took some pictures (mostly of The Castle) with my new camera, including this one:

OH!! I saw someone get engaged at The Castle!! It was too sweet.

I saw Cinderellabration:

About 3 o'clock, the sky started getting dark, it got chilly and then the rain came down. Brrrrrrrr. (OK, to a native Floridian it was COLD) The parade was short, but I saw Jafar, the Evil Queen and Cruella...booo hisssss. :teeth:

After the parade came my favorite moment of the day. I was at the pin store (Trading Post?) in Frontierland when I saw a little girl and her mom stopping all the CMs to look at their lanyards. She was looking a little sad, so I asked her if she was looking for something special. (She only had three pins on her lanyard, but her mom was carrying a ziploc bag full.) She said she wanted a Tinker Bell pin, which I happened to have on my lanyard. Her mom says, "Yes, but you don't work here." No problem, says I. I'll trade with you! (Super hero music here, please). I looked through their bag of pins and found Meleficent (yay!), and we made the big trade. She looked at me with stars in her eyes and said, "I didn't know I could trade with normal people!" I was thinking, "Who me, normal???" :rotfl: But it was a magic moment!

I originally thought I'd stay for Wishes, but by 6 o'clock, I was tired and feeling a little lonesome, so I decided to head on out. And you know what? My Disney buzz lasted all the way through the construction and bumper-to-bumper traffic on 192! :yay:

All-in-all, I give the day 7 out of 10 stars. I'm sure I'll go by myself again some day, but nothing beats sharing the magic with someone you love! :lovestruc

Thanks for sharing. I certainly wish I lived close enough to pop into the MK for a few hours like you did. Awesome.
