Destination: Disney News

I kind of like this picture taking idea, only if it's not too much money.
I go to WDW solo, so I have very few photos of myself at WDW.

Now PDA plush that would sing to me I would go for but talk to me. Don't think so. Won't enhance my visit in the least. Now a replacement for Hunchback, Diamond Horseshoe and TOD would be more to my liking. Three less things for me to enjoy.

The only time I can get a decent group photograph is if I use the Disney photographers. I am glad that they are there and upset when I intentionally try to find them and can't (which has happened more than once). I will be certain to try out the new feature that Safari Steve has mentioned in this thread. Thanks for the heads up, Steve.

Ask a CM to take your picture in your "favorite" spot if they are walking by. They will be glad to do it.

Steve, once again, thanks for all your information.

My view is that Disney have been watching the success of SW's Discovery Cove with great interest (and jealousy!), and are working on ways of doing something similar, and the Destination Disney is part of that process. They have worked out (slowly) that there are a significant number of people who are willing to pay top dollar for an element of exclusivity with their park visits, and this is largely pandering to that wallet range. IMHO, it doesn't (or at least it shouldn't) impinge on other guests' enjoyment of the parks and is simply an (expensive) optional extra, rather like the behind-the-scenes tours. If this experiment is successful, it should add a sigificant amount of revenue to the parks, which can only be good for the overall experience.

The program also includes PDA-like plush characters that will talk to you about different things as you walk through the park...

Someone must have hit me with the stupid stick today but what the heck is a PDA-like plush character that will talk to me as I tour the park???

SimonV-I disagree in the sense that if disney wanted to build something unique like Discovery cove they coulf do so easily on the land they own, like the island that they used to operate(cant remember name), Discovery Cove only allows a set amount of people to get into the park and interact with live animals. From what i have read their isnt going to be a restriction on the amount of people who could use this if they wanted too.
To me right now disney has a limited amount of money to spend to improve their parks and IMHO this money could be used in other ways to enhance the overall guest experience.

epcotfan, part of the eventual implementation of the Destination: Disney program is reportedly to include a PDA inside a Mickey Mouse that participating guests would carry with them in the parks. The device would make suggestions about where to eat or shop, tell them where the shortest attraction lines are, what shows are starting, that kind of stuff...

Hope that helps...

raidermatt... my understanding is the PDA and plush Mickey toy are two seperate things. The plush Mickey is going to be for the kids to carry around and will give you trivia, ride suggestions and resturant suggestions (I know this because I tested one) and the PDA is for the adult which will give you ride time estimates, show starting times and things like that.

Thanks for the info :)
Like I need another thing to carry around the park with me ;)

Thanks for being nice enough to let us know about the upcoming additions to WDW. I think it will be cool and can't wait to test it out. I just wish that the information could be accepted in the spirit in which it was intended.

*sits around trying to figure out what PDA stands for*

“PDA” stands for personal digital assistant, one of those non-words for something no one quite how to describe. The term is usually referring to something like the Palm Pilot calendar/address book/e-mail device, but it can also refer to any portable electronic device whose primary purpose is to record and display information.

I was wondering if the PDA it is out yet and where can I get one and how much$ is it?
THANKS!!
