I'm a newbie, just booked my first trip for next year. I've noticed a lot of discussion about desserts going on. Can you give me examples of desserts available from CS? Are they any good? TIA

I have had some of the brownies and chocolate cakes back in '07 on the dining plan and they were good.

HTH!!

Thanks! I did read the menus on allearsnet, but I know some places have other things not listed. Also, I was looking for opinions on them. Thanks.

Some counter service places you wouldn't think of for lunch are places like Starring Rolls Bakery in HS, Main Street Bakery in MK and Kringla Bakeri in Norway/WS/Epcot. All these places have a limited selection of very, very good sandwiches available at lunch (don't know if they serve them at dinner, never tried them then.) But anyway, for example, at Starring Rolls in HS, for a CS credit you get a wonderful turkey-on-foccacia sandwich, chips, soda and your choice of many, many wonderful bakery desserts...double choc. muffins, chocolate croissants, large choc chip cookies (see my fascination with chocolate?:rotfl2: )

Another yummy thing for dessert that is available in the AK-we like to do the bbq ribs combo meal at Flame Tree BBQ (which is way too much food for the average Pooh size person!) and get the frozen minute maid lemonade as our desserts. They come really frozen, so you can carry it around for awhile on a hot day savoring it! Tart and just sweet enough. Yummy.

Now I'm hungry!

Thanks I would have never thought of the bakeries for lunch. My mom and I, too, have a fond love of chocolate :goodvibes

SHHH! Whisper! don't tell anybody else about the bakeries or there will be long lines! And they'll take all the chocolate before I get there:rotfl2:

Seriously, that's one of my favorite parts of the Dining plan...I diet all year just to treat myself, so like to get the most yummy stuff for my credits. We do like all of the counter service desserts, but at a lot of the counter service, especially in the parks, they are prepackaged items. At the resort counter services & at the bakeries, you have a lot more choices. There may be a few items at the bakeries that are not allowed, but so far we haven't found an item that doesn't count as a dessert.

Also at the resorts you can get the ice cream novelty items: Mickey Bars,:dance3: etc.

We are a chocolate family so most of what we tried when we went were chocolate items. We really liked them all. The kids however hated the sugar free jello they got as dessert with their meals.

Yeah, but that Tie Dyed Cheesecake at POP is just too vivid for me. I couldn't eat much of it. I was afraid of what colors might come out of me when it got to the other end of the digestive tract.

Definitely the food courts at the resorts have much better desserts to choose from.

These are some of the desserts I got last year on the plan;

Pecos Bill's - Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie - Excellant
ABC Comissary - Chocolate Mousse - Okay
Pinocchio Village Haus - Cannoli - Good
Tangerine Cafe - Baklava - Very Good
Kringla Og Bakeri - School Bread - Excellant
Flame Tree BBQ - Key Lime Pie - Very Good
Cosmic Ray's - Carrot Cake - Good
Everything Pop - Chocolate Cake - Poor
Everything Pop - Cheesecake - Good
Everything Pop - Carrot Cake - Very Good

As you can see, a nice variety, and most of the desserts were very tasty.

Just got back today. My favorite CS desserts were from the bakery in the Sunshine Seasons at Epot. Get any meal you want, then stop by the bakery and pick up a dessert. We loved the fruit tulips.
