Dessert party

Hi all, my name is Cheryl and I have been doing a bit of lurking around the boards lately! We are getting married at the Swan/Dolphin because we couldn't afford a Disney wedding. However, we are obsessed with all things Disney so I wanted to do an Illuminations/Fantasmic dessert party after dinner...

I called the catering dept today but ran into an issue: To even get INFORMATION about the dessert parties I was told our group has to stay at Disney Resorts. We all live in Orlando so why would our guests stay at a hotel? lol

Has anyone found a way to get around this??? Or, is there some kind of other celebration we could have to watch the fireworks?

Unfortunately, the one requirement for booking any kind of private event at WDW is that you stay in a Disney-owned hotel. If you have your heart set on it, maybe it'd be worth it to book one night's stay on property.

Another idea: Disney just announced a Wishes fireworks party inside the MK that appears to be open to everyone and can be booked in advance. It's available til August.
