I asked my dessert party planner yesterday if we were allowed to take "left overs" from our dessert party and I was told absolutely not. No food could be taken away at the end of the party.:confused3 I know that I've read on these boards of other people doing this, even providing take away boxes. Do you think this is something that has just changed or do you think this particular planner is mis-informed? :headache:

I don't think that your planner is misinformed. I'm pretty sure the policy has always been a stern "no" on taking away food, but that people do it anyway because, really, if you don't take it, it's just going to be thrown away.

I agree and think you should still take containers. They have to tell you no, but will probably look the other way on the day of.

Thanks for your replies!:goodvibes

I think Disney is mainly concerned with food spoiling, but as long as you had things that don't need to be refrigerated like cookies, krispy treats, etc it should be fine.

I was told absolutely not from the catering manager at my dp last week, even for rice crispies/cookies. So good luck on that!

Seems a bit silly!! You can buy desserts from the stalls all around world showcase and take them away with you, how is a DP any different? Surely its yours if you pay for it? :confused3

Someone once told me a while back they don't let you do it because you could fill up a bag/tub and give it to someone who hasn't paid to be at a DP, no idea how true that is....

It is a shame though, We're hoping to go to a DP and I wouldn't mind taking some stuff back with me. I just LOVE desserts! :goodvibes

Ive worked in Hotels before and the main reason is that people could get sick if they leave it out and blame the facility or even worse do something to it and say the hotel did it. You would be surprised what people do!

At our dessert party, we didn't have containers, but everyone saw all of the leftover food and they all just started piling it up on plates. The guy that was serving the drinks didn't say a word, and our event guide didn't seem fazed by it at all. I never actually asked if we were allowed to do it, and neither did my guests. :) We all saw food (that I paid for!) just lying on the table, so they all went to town packing it up on plates!
