Dessert parties super popular?

Out of curiosity I checked out dessert parties for our trip in May. Not one available that I could find. I know we're only 40 or so days out, but I hadn't realized how popular they are. Are they that good?

Opinions vary especially since they doubled the price versus a year ago or so. But I guess they are still selling. When you think of the number of people who watch Wishes versus the number of people the dessert party can accommodate, it makes sense. But they have always been hard to get.

Not worth it in my opinion, if you are expecting good deserts. Quantity is usually there, and you will be in a less crowded location, but views aren't that great and I understand people are lining up far in advance of the party as tables are no longer reserved.

These fill up quickly. You're a bit late for May.
Lol...yes I see that. Honestly wasn't even sure I'd book one if I had found one. We have the dining plan and I know we will have already had a dessert at dinner. That's already a lot of food.

You should try it if you can get one. We do them every trip. We are waiting on the Symphony or Ferrytale to open for September if even does.

I would never do a DP after an ADR. Way too much food. We do a 2 PM lunch then DP at 8 or 9.

Symphony is probably the only one that we'd have a chance on. No dates in May have been announced yet. Is it possible to do the Symphony dessert party AND Fantasmic on the same night?

For us, it was fun to do once, but don't really care anything about doing it again.

We did the merry and bright one in December and it was worth it to us, but for very specific reasons. It was the last year of the Osborne lights and I was so glad we had a place to sit and enjoy it without the crazy crowds. We might or might not have drink enough to make up the price :rolleyes1. Of course those are Disney drink prices.

The desserts weren't great and to be honest there is so many sweets anyone can have at one time before you don't want to see another dessert for a week. I wish they had some cheese or something that was salty. With that being said I don't see us doing another dessert party any time soon.

I do not think so but you should be able to do Fantasmic and the Symphony Fireworks.

They no longer reserve the tables? Do they still seat you?

We did it on our last trip and it was fun because of the 4th of July week crowds. I don't really see us doing it again either.

My understanding is the tables are first come first served, which has people lining up far in advance to get a good view by the railing.

And no standing at the rail. Those changes and a doubling in price starting last summer permanently removed it from our list of things to consider. We enjoyed it on our last trip in 2013. With small kids at the end of a long day it was nice to have a reserved viewing spot away from the crowds. We may still consider one of the cruises in the future.

We managed it on spring break - BUT there was a 2nd fantasmic show. Super easy and not rushed at all. The dessert party clears out quickly right after the fireworks.

What were the times for everything? What do you think the chances of them adding a second F show for May would be?

Right now Star Wars fireworks are at 9:15, they are about 12 min. The 2nd Fantasmic show was at 10:00 so plenty of time to get down there.

I'm not sure how the times will change going forward. Currently you can see Wishes and SW Fireworks if you time your dinner at Cali Grill right - SW isn't the same without the music though, it would have been way cooler if they piped the music in for it as well. We did that on a different night.
