Banana Pudding
Paula Deans recipe, but I changed up a few things.

1 box Nilla Wafers
4 large bananas, sliced
2 cups milk
1 (5-oz) box instant vanilla pudding
1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 (14-oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (16-oz) container Cool Whip, thawed

In a 9x13 pan, layer Nilla Wafers on bottom. Slice bananas on top of wafers.
In a large bowl beat cream cheese and sweet milk, until smooth. Add pudding & milk, mix well.
Fold in half the cool whip, pour over bananas.
Just before serving spread with remaining cool whip.

My husband's favorite dessert I make is a Rachel Ray recipe. You take Grand's type biscuits and sprinkle sugar on top before you bake them. In a pan you heat up a large can of peaches with cinnamon and nutmeg. Put a couple of tablespoons into Whipping Cream and whip until of the desired consistancy. Split a warm biscuit and put peaches inside and top with whipped cream. Sort of a warm peachy version of a strawberry shortcake. You can also use cool whip, but real whipped cream is great on this!!

Death by Chocolate Trifle. I got the trifle bowl at Christmas Tree shops for 6.99.

You bake a chocolate cake in a 9x13 pan- cooled
take 2 boxes chocolate pudding, I usually do instant, make as directed
2 big tubs of lite or regular cool whip
Bag of heath bar crumbles, sometimes I use two bags
couple tablespoons of Kahlua (optional)
Ok, take the cake poke little holes with a fork all over it. Drizzle with a little Kahlua. (yum) then rip cake into squares or cut up into little chunks,

Layer in trifle bowl:
cake
pudding
coolwhip
heathbar
cake
pudding
coolwhip
Heath bar
You can decrate the top with hershey kisses or choc chips around the edge of the bowl.

A weight watcher variation just as pretty & yummy!
Fat free angel food cake
Sugar free fat free vanilla pudding
cool whip
Strawberries& blueberries (and other berries if you want) I slice the straws to make em pretty

Layer
angel cake
ff pudding
layer of berries
cake
pudding
berries - on the top I arrange the berries to make them look pretty.

Hey - you took my suggestion!!! Its a great dessert - looks great on the bowl, and tastes even better! One suggestion if you want to be really fancy - make individual ones - as I said, it looks great in the bowl, but once you put it on the dish.... not so pretty. Also, if you want to be super lazy, just get some pre-made brownies rather than baking your own cake.

This is one my friend swears by, but I dont like telling people the name:

BETTER THAN SEX CHOCOLATE CAKE II

1 (18 1/2 oz.) pkg. German chocolate cake mix
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 jar caramel sauce
12 oz. carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
3 Heath bars, crushed

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9x13x2 inch pan. Prepare cake mix as directed on package; pour into prepared pan. After 10 minutes of baking, sprinkle with chocolate chips. Continue baking until cake is done.
While cake is still hot, poke holes in it with handle of wooden spoon. Pour sweetened condensed milk over cake; let cool. Top with caramel sauce, then whipped topping. Sprinkle with candy bars. 12 to 16 servings.

Since I can't eat anything with Cool Whip, my go to dessert is marscapone cheesecake.

Hershey's Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake or a homemade butter cake with bavarian cream and raspberry filling.

I usually have both at my daughters' family birthday parties and they are both hits!

That's my crowd wower, too! However, I use brownies (and sadly no kalua since I make it for a crowd with kids). The time I made it with choc cake & kalua, it didn't fit in the trifle bowl too well.

It's seriously yummy.

If you're not opposed to alcohol in your desserts....

Tiramisu

Ingredients
7 yolks
1 cup sugar for yolks
3 cups or 1 (750-gram) container mascarpone
4 1/2 tablespoons water
1 1/2 tablespoons powdered gelatin
3 egg whites
1/4 cup sugar for whites
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
2 1/2 cups cooled espresso
1/2 cup kalhua
20 to 24 ladyfingers
1 cup chocolate shavings

Directions
In a mixer with the whip attachment, whip yolks and sugar until thick and pale in color (ribbon stage). Add mascarpone and whip until well incorporated. Pour water into a small bowl then pour powdered gelatin over it. Do not stir. Allow gelatin to absorb all of the water (about 15 minutes) then place the bowl on top of a small saucepan containing simmering water (creating a double boiler). Immediately turn off the heat and allow the gelatin to dissolve completely. In a separate bowl, whip egg whites to a soft peak, gradually add sugar, then slowly pour in dissolved gelatin. Whip to a stiff, glossy peak. Fold whites into mascarpone and yolk mixture then fold in whipped cream.

In a separate bowl, combine espresso and kalhua. Soak 1 ladyfinger at a time in the espresso mixture. In an 8 by 10-inch pan, arrange soaked ladyfingers close together in neat rows until the bottom of the pan is completely covered. Pour 1/2 of the mousse over the ladyfingers and smooth with a rubber spatula. Sprinkle 1/2 of the chocolate shavings over mousse. Create another layer and chill until set.

(I eliminate the gelatin, because I'm a vegetarian.)

Chocolate Eclair Cake

Needed:
Box of Graham Crackers
Package of vanilla instant pudding
Tub o' Cool Whip
Tub o' Chocolate Frosting
9 X 13 pan

Directions:
Put single layer of graham crackers on bottom of pan
Make pudding according to directions (milk, mixing, 5 minutes, etc.)
Fold pudding in with cool whip (or homemade whipped cream, whatever you like)
Smooth one layer of pudding/whipped cream on top of graham crackers
Add another single layer of graham crackers
Do this 2 more times ending with graham crackers on top
Plop chocolate frosting out of the jar and on top of final layers of graham crackers; smooth evenly

Refrigerate overnight. It is good within an hour or so but even better when the graham crackers get soft :goodvibes

Oh, also during the summer I make this cake a lot:

Angel Lush Cake

Needed:
I buy a premade angel food cake when they're on sale (but you could make one or buy one when not on sale :) )
Tub o' Cool Whip (although I do use homemade whipped cream as I try to limit the consumption of HFCS and chemicals)
Package of instant vanilla pudding
Can of crushed pineapple
Container of strawberries (or whatever berry you like)

Directions:
Slice Angel Food cake in half (horizontally not vertically ;) )
(Sometimes I'll take lemon juice and sugar and brush that on to the cut portion of the cake to add a little more flavor but you don't have to)
Slice strawberries and place in a single layer
Mix whipped cream, package of instant pudding, and crushed pineapple
Put layer of mixture on top of strawberries
Put top half of angel food cake back on
Put more sliced strawberries on top of cake
Put another layer of whipped cream/pineapple mixture on top (or vice versa, if the strawberries look pretty I'll stick those sliced on top of the pudding mixture)

Refrigerate. There's usually a lot of mixture left over which I serve with the cake for anyone that wants more (or eat it with vanilla wafers by myself later ;) ).

I forgot about this recipe!!!!!!! I had this about 1 year ago......OMG!! It is sooooo good. I need a great recipe for this weekend, I WILL MAKE THIS!!!

If this doesn't wow a crowd, nothing will!

Anything is good in a trifle bowl. This past Sunday, strawberries were on sale. I bought an angelfood cake, cut it in cubes and layered with cake, strawberries, vanilla pudding, and whipped cream (repeat layers). Yum!

One time I had made a 3-layer black forest cherry cake, which sort of, um, fell (on the clean countertop) after assembly. The top cake piece was okay, though. I took the rest of it, put in a trifle bowl, mushed it up some, and then place the top cake layer on and covered in more whipped cream. First thing to go during the church dinner!

I've been roped into making "Pineapple Fluff" for the huge Labor Day bash up here at the lake for the past 10 years now.. If you would like the recipe, I'll see if I can dig it out..:goodvibes

Basic ingredients are:

Crushed pineapple
Vanilla Pudding
Bananas
Angel Food Cake
Cool Whip

Simple and very, very good..:thumbsup2

Dig it out please, I need to make a dessert and appetizer for a birthday party.
Also if you have an easy appetizer recipe please post. Though the family likes what I make, I get tired of making the same old same old.

Everyone loves it when I make my version of Paula Deen's "Is it Really Better Than Sex" Cake.

It's a pineapple cake with vanilla pudding.

I used to make it like she does it, which really shouldn't be a PD recipe but that "semi-homemade" show, because it's box cake box pudding, etc etc.

Then I found we couldn't do that anymore b/c of the ingredients in those things, so I make yellow cake from scratch (EASY), vanilla pudding from scratch (once you separate the eggs it's EASY unless you make "instant" pudding...you do have to stir constantly, but it's AMAZING to watch it go from egg mush to pudding), organic whipping cream, etc etc. It's so so so good when made truly from scratch, and it amazes people when they find out you made each component of it from scratch. :goodvibes

Thank you C. Ann, everything sounds great, but the cucumber rounds is so totally different from what I usually make that I will make them.

Molly your not supposed to admit that we have time to make stuff from scratch. ;)
