Despicable Me 2

Since it was brought up, Disney also released movies under other brands to make it look like it was not Disney. Hollywood Pictures was Disney that put out movies like Crimson Tide and G.I. Jane. Also the put out movies under the Dimension pictures brand such as Scream. Yes folks scream is a Disney movie. Also for a time they where co-owners of Miramax.

Let's Google the OP and see if we can find them.;)
Or we can skip the stones and just have a beer.:hyper:

What skip the Stones? I think NOT as long as Mick is still rocking & Keith can still play his guitar. OK a bit to tongue & cheek..... :rotfl2:

Why are you surprised? Touchstone pictures has made some very adult-related films, not everything Disney does is G or PG.

The first film released under the Touchstone Pictures banner made waves on the big screen in 1984 with the hit Splash starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. Since then, The Walt Disney Studios has released over 200 films from Touchstone Pictures, including Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Pretty Woman, Sister Act, Father of the Bride, Con Air, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Step Up, and The Proposal.

Up until the early 80's everything Disney put out was marked with the "Disney" name. Unfortunately some of these movies didn't do so well, and Disney Management started to realize 2 things.

1. People automatically assumed that the Disney name meant it was a cute family film. This kept a large potential segment of consumers who weren't interested in cutesy family films from ever giving anything Disney produced any serious consideration.... including those films that weren't targeted for the family demo.

2. The market was changing and if Disney wanted to take advantage of everything they would need to adapt and be willing to release films that were more mature and maybe had content (thematic or visual) which was more adult in nature.

They realized that creating a new Studio to release movies under would address both these issues. Disney could start releasing more adult content then they'd risked doing before without having to worry about harming the Disney name and reputation (Splash, The First film released under the Touchstone label even had a bit of nudity in it).... And the Disney name could be reserved and used just their family friendly fair, allowing them to keep the brand recognition without diluting the brand.

they actually operated under this philosophy for years and had several different studios under their umbrella, including Touchstone with such classics as Splash, 3 men and a Baby, etc...... All the way up to miramax with it's much more adult fair such as Clerks, Pulp Fiction, etc.

It's honestly only been the past couple years when Disney has started to bring everybody back "in-house" with the "Walt Disney Studios" label on all their films. I think primarily it's been in part due to the almighty idea of "Synergy" between the parks and studios..... but it's IMHO also another short-sighted idea by Disney Management since it's ended up further diluting the "Disney Studios" name.

I do hope everyone is just responding in jest! I inadvertently assumed DM2 was Disney related.

Of course! However I still have a deep seated conviction that those who call Anastasia a Disney movie should be drawn and quartered
