Desperately seeking resv @ FW

I have been trying to obtain reservation at FW with full hook up for the weekend of 12/29/06 through 1/2/07, my husband's birthday is on new years eve and his ultimate wish was to go rving at disney. He's in the military and going away for 3 months on 1/8/07 so I know this would be the perfect getaway. Anyone out there cancelling reservations during this time? Or does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? It would really mean so much to us, any suggestions would really be appreciated. Thank you! Thank You!!

Try calling at 7am, I have been calling back during the day also to see if something comes up. Also I had some succes with going to reservatin on the internet and getting one day know I'm just trying to add on the extra day.

I know this is gonna sound crazy....but we had been trying to get fort wilderness reservations from January 2-7, 2007. We (my mother and I) tried for 2 weeks calling at 7 am in the morning. Well...my dad started calling...and on his second attempt he got a reservation for the exact dates he wanted with no hassel, just an hour after my mom called.

I know it would be absolutely crazy to say that they gave the reservation to a man's voice....but its in the back of my head....

Hey there!! First of all, tell your husband I said THANK YOU for his service in the military, it's a very special person who raises his or her hand and swears to serve and protect us. Secondly, don't give up trying on those reservations, we just went for my 40th in September and it was SOO much fun! It will be even more special for you guys since he'll be leaving soon after. Some ways that might help you get a res.;

Call Shades of Green (SoG) at (888) 593-2242 to see if they have overflow rates at the Fort (they're open military hours and closed military holidays). During the busiest times if SoG is booked solid you can get good discounted (military) rates at other resorts, that is a peak time so they should be booked but I don't know if FW is included in the plan. You can check out their web page at www.shadesofgreen.org.

Call Disney back and ask for the dates you want individually, if the first date you want is booked they'll tell you they don't have any sites but one or more of the other dates might be available, reserve them if they are. Then check back often and try for the others until you have what you want. I tried day before yesterday to get a week starting the 9th of December and they said EVERYTHING!! every campsite, every value and every moderate was booked!! I thought that was strange because this is supposed to be a very slow time to go but decided to try back later. Yesterday when I called back I decided to try from the 10th and sure enough they had a campsite for that time. When I asked for a value for the 9th was told they only had one of the all-stars preferred rooms for $100 or so. That room wasn't available the day before so you just need to try back. She suggested to check on their website often and when you see something is available call them right away to make the reservation. Good luck!!
