Desktop PC-Tower only

So I'm hoping you all can help me. We have a really old desktop PC that needs replacing. However, we bought a really nice screen just last year, so really all we need is a new tower, the actutal computer part! It's old and keeps crashing (it already crashed once while I was trying to type this!)

Anyway, I'm hoping some of you have suggestions for where to buy a cheap tower without all of the extra 'stuff'?

I bought mine at Microcenter last year. You can buy just the CPU (tower) pretty much anywhere although places like Best Buy will offer deals with a bundle. Tiger Direct and Newegg.com are also great places to get computers for a good price.

We've owned several Dells over the years and been pretty happy for the most part. Only one required to speak with "Bob" in their far east tech group.

You can buy just a tower pretty much anywhere that sells computers. My DS built ours for us and it's a lot cheaper to build your own if you know how or know someone who can. All parts really just plug into each other, but you have to know what you really need and have the software too.

Your best bet is to order directly from the manufacturer (HP or dell) although they do offer quick ship models, most are custom built and usually do not include the monitor. The best place to look for deals is at techbargains.com.

We have a emachines which can be purchased at Best Buy and online for $200-300 for just the controller which you need. This is my second emachine and we love it.

If you sign up for TigerDirect.com emails, they send out offers for pretty good deals on computer "sets" where they send you the parts and you put them together. You usually have to purchase the operating system on your own.
