In your opinion(s), which decks are desirable & why?

Also, which are undesirable & why?

Thanks!!!!! :p

I think any deck you're on will be fine. Travelling as Cast Members, we have stayed on the two bottom decks and had lovely outside-view staterooms both times (Wonder). We spent very little time there though.

Have a wonderful trip.

I'd rather be on the ship so any deck would be fine with me.

But really.

I would avoid:

deck 1, since the rooms are only in one corner (port between midship and forward) you'll have to go to a different deck to get to the aft part of the ship. And in Nassau since you are on the same deck and area as the gangway (deck 1 forward) you'll get all the humidy in your hallway.

deck 2, right under the nightclubs, Kitchens, and if you are in 2626 area, right over the loading area.

deck 8, since it's right under the pools, and Topsiders/Beach blanket. You'll hear running, deck chairs scrapping, and power washing, and in certain area's that are under the goofy pool, the deck parties. Since all the premium categories (1,2,3 and 4 ) are all on this deck I wonder what the designers were thinking.

our favorite is deck 5, smack in the middle of everything
and you would not know the kids clubs were on the same deck.

decks 6 and 7 are all staterooms, so the only noise you hear are your neighbors. Sort of like at a hotel. hallway traffic, doors slamming.

I guess I have to respectfully disagree with the above concerning deck 8. We found deck 8 to be very quiet. There were a few chairs being moved around in the morning hours but I only noticed them because I was already awake. I don't think I would have even noticed if I hadn't read about it here ahead of time. The kids never even noticed it. In all honesty, I would stay on any deck and found no issues on either 8 or 7 where we have stayed. My opinion would be to stay away from the things that will affect you most...stay away from the rooms near the nightclubs if you are an "early to bed" person. Stay away from those on deck 8 if you are a very light sleeper who sleeps in, etc. For me...just put me on the ship!! I'll sleep in the hallway!

We've been on the Magic 3 times, deck 2, 7, and 5. Other than the verandah needs, we've found that the next consideration is being in the AFT of the ship and really enjoyed deck 5. As Barb said you wouldn't know that this is the kids deck and you have easy access to the rest of the ship, including the B.V. Theater. But as others said, as long as you are on the ship, its a good thing.

We really enjoyed deck 6 near the aft elevators. Only a few floors up or down to everything. No noticable noise near the elevators either.

We are staying in 6634 on the Magic Western cruise on June 22. Three or four rooms from the aft elevator lobby.

Last year (May Magic Cruise) we stayed on Deck 4, had no problems except one..... when we docked at CC, the hallway (and aft stairway) was wall to wall people there was no air, it was hot, humid, and crowded, etc. People were getting antsy and agitated.

I was on an upper deck watching the ship dock. I had to run down to our room for something and I couldn't make it there without some major "excuse me's and pardon me's." I opened my door and the cool air from the room (AC) dumped into the hallway and on to the passengers waiting to leave the ship. They actually started to cheer! I held my door open for a few minutes to cool them off. The wait for the mass exodus onto CC is something to consider when staying on deck 4. It seemed to take forever to get docked and ready to disembark the ship. Thanks.

I didn't think there were rooms on Deck 4--my map show them as all public rooms--out of curiosity sake, where are they (aft/forward)?

We were actually on Deck 2 near the aft elevators, in cabin 2136, I believe.

I stand corrected by my better half (Keenercam). However, we stayed in stateroom 2114 (I checked our photo album). I guess I got it backwards a bit? That is where the problem was, does that make sense Dave? You were on that cruise with us. Right? Since I am not yet a Disney Veteran, I think I'm allowed to mess up once. I've got it out of the way now. Hope this clarifies things a bit.

We've been on deck 6 (Cat 6) and deck 7 (Cat 5) -- both were great. We liked 7 a little more as it was one flight of stairs less to get up to deck 9 (pools), but not enough more to pay the difference between Cat 5 and 6. (Our Cat 5 was surprise upgrade from a Cat 10 guarantee -- guess they ran out of Cat 10s). We are cruising next month -- our first 7 night cruise -- and selected a Cat 6 (midship on deck 6). Its not too far from anything and reasonably quiet.
