Designing Women's Star Dixie Carter Dies

I always remember a line where she was telling off a woman who said people deserved to die of AIDS: "If God was handing out Sexually Transmitted Diseases as punishment for our sin, you would be at the free clinic ALL THE TIME."

RIP Dixie. We will miss you.

Julia was her best role. I thnk I'm going to have a Designing Women marathon today while I do chores.

Loved the first few seasons of Designing Women....loved the episode where they all went to Graceland.

I never thought she was 70. She has had a LOT of consemtic surgery done, so she appears so much more youthful. I don't unsderstand why nobody is posting the cause of her death. Isn't that strange?

Periodically, when someone goes too far, I will say to DH, "I swear, if they don't stop right now, I will go all Julia Sugarbaker on their ***." :rotfl2: I am usually speaking of DH's brother. :lmao: He is the most deserving of Julia Sugarbaker rants.

I found it odd that her husband referred to her death as a family tragedy and of course it is always a tragsdy when someone you love passes away, but you don't usually refer to it as such.
I hope it's not what I'm thinking, but she was a wonderful woman and with a great sense of humor.
RIP Dixie, you are missed.

I was just going to post this, the odd use of the word "tragedy". In made me wonder right away that her death wasn't of simple natural causes.

I loved Dixie and all the Designing Women. She was a gracious Southern Belle and she will be missed. The OP's favorite "rant" was mine also.

Now in her honor-everyone - all together:

Have you all just COMPLETELY lost your minds?

:goodvibes:sad1:

ABC News: saying her husband Hal Holbrook called it a "blow to our family", not a tragedy as was written. She died of complications of uterine cancer.

Such a loss. She had dignity, class, and style.

This is terribly sad. I cannot imagine how Hal Holbrook is feeling right now-- she was very young. I think the family is keeping the nature of her death private.

Wow, I loved her on Designing Woman and Filthy Rich. She and Hal Holbrook were one of the true couples in Hollywood. How very sad....:sad1:

As others have posted, I was a big fan of Designing Women. Julia was my favorite character. She had such class, and as others have stated, she was a true Southern Belle. She will be missed!
such sad news......... :sad1:
