Designated Survivor

They showed an agent walking through the hallway, calling into the radio the floor was "clear". Directly behind that agent, the sniper entered the floor and the room.

I agree the counter snipers (who should have been on various rooftops looking with binoculars at other locations) should have noticed a single window opening all of a sudden.

At the same time, we don't know how deep this treason goes. 1) Someone leaked the plans to blow up the Capital 2) The sniper who took the shot was a secret service agent (had the pin and the radio earpiece).

I don't think the sniper was an ACTUAL secret service agent, but rather posed as one. The sniper was the same dude as poisoned the terrorist, while posing as a military guard. He likes to pose as lots of things, apparantly. Of course, we are not going to get the question answered as to how either of these things was remotely possible. LOL.

Thanks. I'm not great on recognizing faces.

Wasn't he also the same guy in the photo with MacLeish?

OK, I haven't really watched much, but I have episodes available on demand and have been watching a few episodes including the pilot.

One detail kind of bugs me, although I guess it makes sense as a plot point. In the pilot, Kirkland is assigned Mike as a Secret Service agent, and his family seems to know him well like he's part of his regular protective detail. As Secretary of HUD, he wouldn't have been assigned a Secret Service detail. Most cabinet secretaries are protected by their own department's law enforcement, although it looks like HUD pays Homeland Security for a detail by the Federal Protective Service, but not the Secret Service.

I suppose it advances the plot as bringing in a familiar person who can be part of his Presidential protective detail.

Moving on to another episode where the myth that an embassy is territory of the receiving country was propagated. Not true. A foreign embassy in the US is US territory. It is considered "inviolable" though.

i think the vp's wife was shot. If it was the first lady, I don't think she will die. That would be too sad and would totally take the show in another direction. He would not be able to function, would be grieving, the kids would be a mess etc. The show is about all the drama/deception going on in DC, who is the traitor, who is behind the bombing etc. Nobody wants the show to change gears and focus on the devastated president IMO.

So, so we think Aaron is the traitor?

Did we see Maggie Q but the sniper with her shot? With a pistol at that range?

I'm not even sure why she would fire with a pistol at that range unless she was just trying to create chaos to get the president to seek cover in the most expedient way possible.

I assumed she shot at the shooter with her pistol to get people to look up there. Maybe I'm wrong but that's a lot more effective than pointing and shouting in a crowd like that.

Maybe I'm too naive but I don't think Aaron is a traitor. It would be too "cookie cutter" they way he is being set up as one.

I'm not sure what to think either. They had some "cookie cutter" elements early on so I think they are capable of that. But now I'm not sure. How sneaky of them!

I believe the family was introduced to Mike as Kirkland assumed the presidency.

I thought Leo recognized Mike when he was found at the club. I have it saved on my DVR and I saw the first few minutes where Kirkman definitely calls him Mike as he comes in to tell him to stay away from the Windows.

Still like this show, but can't believe what happened in last night's episode! I won't say too much in case people haven't watched it yet. Did that really happen?

It's a conspiracy I tell ya!

OMG, me too! I just caught up on DVR this morning. That was so not what I expected when I saw that person standing there!

:scared1: Shocking and totally unexpected!!! This show is far and away our favorite of everything that premiered this fall. I'm wondering now though, with that turn of events - where can we go from here? That was a pretty final resolution of a story line that could have dragged on for several seasons. Has Designated Survivor been cancelled? :sad1:

I was surprised but not really shocked. But that's probably because I binge watched 24 recently. It taught me that Keifer is the only one who's not expendable.
